Is there a dial tone if you pick up the reciever ? Can you send faxes or use the machine to make a phone call ? If you can make calls or send faxes the machine probably needs to be set to the auto recieve mode so that it automatically answers when a fax is being recieved. If no dial tone you may have a loose connection to your phone jack.
Make sure there is a dial tone on the phone reciever. If there is not check the connections, the cord could be damaged or disconnected. If there is, check the Recieve mode.
Well it was fixed after I called our telephonecompany.
They told us last Thursday that the lina was ok, but yesterday I talked to a extremely competent callcenteragent and he could confirm the problem lay in the connection.
So, it wasn't a problem wit the JX200 after all.
The machine is set with the sleep mode as a default. The fax part can be changed to recieve a fax by pressing the fax mode button. Press it until it says Fax only, not F/T. F/T means Fax/Telephone. This mode would make it to where you have to pick up the reciever and press start when a fax comes in. The Fax only mode means it will pick up everytime a fax comes in automatically. Let me know if this was helpful. Please give my helping a rating. Thanks!
You cannot send a fax on a broadband connection, they should have given you a splitter, if not get one, the splitter is a small box like thing, it has two telephone sockets on one side and one socket on the other, the telephone line from the wall is connected on one side, on the other side you have to connect your adsl modem in one and your telephone in another socket, Usually the sockets have descriptions on them specifing which decive should be connected to the socket.
Now you should have a dial up modem(56Kbps internal or external modem) connect this modem to the socket which specifies, Telephone. Configure the modem. configure yor fax settings to use this modem. Now you can send your faxes.
If your ISP does not support dial-up then you cannot use it to send faxes.
DR mode means that Distinctive Ring is set to on which will force your fax machine to manual receive. Turn DR off and you can set it to whatever mode you want.
This is an older discontiued model as I can recall. Simply just plug the phone line into L1 and leave L2 unconnected. The one that can send will also automatically recieve (L1). L2 settings are prohibit TX and send/ recieve.
