My television will turn on and off by itself. When plugged in the unit may go a week at times and be fine then all the sudden it will begin turning itself off and on. I have taken the unit apart and cleaned it and still the same issue.

It maybe some semiconductor IC got hot, need service or repair. It may repair itself if you leave it on standby for a month(at operating temprature a week)? This is low tempeature(the lower the temperature the longer the time) annealing or moisture curing technology, used by Nasa on transistor failure in satellites, or long range unmanned vehicles. You can always repair the unit later.
electricity flows in a path simliar to water. IF the path is closed no water , or no power. if the TV doesn't turn on something inside is not working, and it most likely is related to the transformer or an electrical short in the TV, If you already tried plugging other stuff where the TV was plugged in to test the outlet, then my advice is to replace the TV the unit is not worth fixxing.
Best Educated guess would be your Flyback transformer is failing. Not something you can replace at home and the value of the part may exceed the replacement value of the set by the time labour and part are factored together. DO Not look to replace this part yourself as this part inside the set as it has a high voltage that can be lethal. Output voltage can be around 50,000
