The wii is region dependent, meaning that pal games require a pal console and ntsc games require an ntsc console, somewhere on the front or back of the game case it should say what region the game is. you probably just have the wrong region game disk, if so i would advise selling it and buying one for your region, if you have a lot of trouble finding the region code, or anything else, i would advise calling nintendos help line, they are very helpful and will almost always solvee your problem, they sent me a free power supply when mine stoped working. hope this at least helps a little, good luck.

Wont read disc

Hello

Insert the disc into the console properly. If the Wii is positioned vertically you should face the label to the right. If you lay the Wii flat, make sure the label is facing up when you insert it.

Check the disc for residue. If you spot something on the disc that could interfere with its operation or potentially get inside the console, you need to clean it. Use a dry cloth and wipe the bottom of the disc from the inside out. Do not rub it in a circular motion. This could scratch the disc.

Read the label. Wii consoles in North America will play game discs made for use in North America only. On the bottom of the label you should see a note that the disc is manufactured for Wii consoles in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Latin America.

Turn the power of the Wii off. Disconnect the AC adapter from the wall outlet and wait a couple of minutes. Plug the adapter back in and turn the console back on. Insert the disc again and see if it works.

I bought some games off ebay but they won't work in my wii what do i do now to make them work?

Are they original games? Or copies?

If they are original, look at the packaging for a country designation. US games wont work on a UK Wii for example. If this is the case you need to check the ebay listing & request a refund if the listing did not detail the region (US, UK, Japan, Europe)

If they are copies then you cannot play copied games without altering your Wii in a way that will void the warranty & could break it. if the ebay listing did not mention that the games were not genuine then request a refund or open an ebay dispute as it is illegal to sell copied games

Thanks

Going to the states will there games play on my wii here also my son working over there thought he could send the games home for presents if they work

Yes their games will play fine on your Wii, and yes you can send games home. Wii systems sold here only work in Canada, US and South America.
Now if you were trying to do that with a Japan game, they have a different region code then us (Canada, US) So if you wanted to play Japan games on a Canadian/United States Wii you would have to install a mod chip for that to work.

I have bought loads of Wii games from america and none of them work on my Wii console in England. This is because I had previously installed 3.3E. Please help me, how do I get round this problem?

England uses a different video standard called PAL. Only use games marked PAL standard. US uses NTSC which has a different method and unreadable on a European Wii.

Cabelas big game hunter for wii

Hey reneeandryan,

While Nintendo Wii games are not region-coded, the hardware itself is made in both NTSC and PAL formats. In order for a video game to function with your Wii, it would need to be in the same format as your Wii console. This unfortunately means that video games purchased from NTSC compliant countries, such as the U.S., will not function with the PAL consoles sold in Australia.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Wii unable to read disc

One of two things has probably happened and is the case 9 out of 10 times. Your drive may have gone bad either due to a chip failure or a laser failure. It's also possible if the unit has gotten hot that the connection to the drive isn't making good connection anymore. This happens a lot. To fix it you would have to open the unit up. I don't recommend this if you have never worked on consoles or other electronics before. If the unit is under warrenty send it in for repair. Otherwise you would have to pay for the repairs. You can also sell the unit as broken on ebay and generally recover quite a lot of your money.

If you are good with repairs of electronics you may choose to open it up and do some troubleshooting. There are several places on the internet that outline how to open the wii and how to troubleshoot it's problems. If you decide to go this route you will void any warrenty you might have. However sometimes this is about the only solution people have without spending money for Nintendo to fix it.

No sound on nintendo wii

We ended up sending our Wii to Nintendo of America. They were quick to repair it. Actually, I was pleasantly surprised how good the service was. You have to login to the Nintendo website and report the problem. If your Wii is registered and under warranty, they will send you a prepaid shipping label. You sent the console in, and they ship it back. The whole thing took about a week. The website allows you to track the repair and shipping process.
