It should be in the rear of the unit. Remove two or three screws, and then loosen screws holding lamp, pull lamp out, and replace with new one. If it is not in the back then it will be in the front. Very easy to replace. If any questions please ask. Thank you.

Where is the lamp module located for a sony kdf 42we655?

Please read here:

From SONY:
If the screen becomes dark, the color looks unusual, or the LAMP indicator on the front of the TV flashes, it is time to replace the lamp with a new one (not supplied).

Use only a replacement Sony XL-2100U or XL-2100 for your TV. Use of any other lamp may damage your LCD projection TV. Contact your Sony dealer for a replacement lamp.

Click here to download step-by-step directions for replacing your TV's lamp.

Note: Before replacing the lamp, turn the power off on the main unit. Wait several minutes, then unplug the power cord. (The cooling fan will continue to blow for about two minutes after turning the power off.)

Be sure to allow the lamp to cool down completely before removing it. The surface of the lamp remains extremely hot for at least 30 minutes after the power has been turned off.

Where lamp is located for replacement and what r the steps I need to take to replace it?

There is no lamp to be replaced in your TV. You are confusing it with newer DLP technology. Your TV is CRT projection technology, it has 3 CRT (picture tubes) and they are too expensive to replace.
Maybe just some adjustments could be made by professional, other than this - not much to do.

The tv is plugged in but it won't come on. I've taken off the back and there doesn't appear to be anything wrong but it's still not coming on by remote or manually pressing the power button. What should I...

  • Replace the lamp on the TV and make sure the cover is on -
  • Step 1Turn off and unplug the RCA TV and wait at least 30 minutes for the old lamp to cool down. RCA's lamps can reach heats of 200 degrees Fahrenheit, so make sure you wait the allotted time before beginning.
  • Step 2Find the lamp's access door in the lower-right corner of the back of your RCA TV.
  • Step 3Unscrew the screw on the access door with a flathead screwdriver, then grasp the two tabs and pull the door gently away from the remainder of the TV. Keep track of the screw and don't let it roll away.
  • Step 4Use the screwdriver to loosen the two screws holding the lamp itself in position. You don't need to remove the screws, just loosen them.
  • Step 5Pull the lamp out of its housing firmly, taking care not to force it or damage the surrounding housing. Note the position of the lamp in the housing as you do so; the new lamp needs to match it perfectly.
  • Step 6Insert the replacement lamp into the housing, taking care to place it in the same position as the old lamp. Tighten the two screws on its frame to secure it into position.
  • Step 7Replace the access door and tighten the screw into position. The RCA TV won't turn on unless the door is secured.
  • Step 8Plug the TV in and turn it on. Wait 60 seconds, then tune to a channel to see if you can receive a signal.
  • Step 9Place the used lamp in the box which contained the new lamp, seal it and contact your local sanitation department for instructions on disposing of it safely. (Some RCA lamps hold small amounts of mercury, so you can't just throw them away. )

    Tv not workingt

Open the lamp door located on the side of the TV. You will the see the lamp and one or two screws. Remove these screws and pull the lamp out. Check the lamp to see if it is either cracked/shattered or if there is a cloud either on the whole lamp or just on the stem of the lamp. If you see any of these on the lamp, then the lamp needs to be replaced. It is user accessible and putting in the new on is just as easy as taking it out. Your user's manual has step by step directions for checking and replacing the lamp if you need further instructions.
