Yeah... hp have a built in recovery. when you start up the machine it will show the option at the bottom for a recovery (F2) and when you press that it will lead you through the recovery. you need to make sure any files you want to save are on a flash drive or something as recovery deletes everything.

when it asks you to select the partition you will need to delete the other one by pressing D and the confirm and reformat by pressing L. after that you just let it run. its a piece of cake!

Good luck!

Hi benjianddave....
You should have a "recovery disc" on your computer hard drive already...
Look in "All Programs" and you should see a way to make the recovery discs.
(If not then you may have to buy the recovery discs)

You can use the recovery mode to bring your computer back to an earlier time when it was working right.
Left click on "Start">All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore

Dv6000 when doing F11 factory recovery it prompt error "code 1002"

Hi,

I think you can try this step. Remove the Battery and Unplug the AC power, press and hold the power button for 1 minute without any power supply, after a minute put it all back in, try to load to recovery manager if happens that its still not loading, it means the Recovery Manager Partition is already corrupted and you need to order RCD from HP.

Hope it help. =)

It depends on what was wrong. Did he reformat the computer? If he did, yes, you should go to HP's website and download them. IMO, he's a bad tech if he didn't do that after a reformat.

I have hp pavilion dv6000 i had a problem about recovery manager

Did you attempt to load recovery/factory image from hidden partition and if so did you follow User Manual or Guide re instruvtions? if so there should have been no problems. I would try again though do it slowly and carefully when choosing Options so that you don't change Partitions where the Default Software is.

Was it Alt and F10 buttons when powering up from a Shutdown, i.e Cold Boot?

Hp pavillion usb ports

They are right, some DVs have this problem. If you can live without the ports, then do it. If you can't, replacement is the only option.
