My motherboard is P5RD1-VM, with bios 1104 and OS Vista x32
first i use 1 gb visipro ram, then i bought 1 gb visipro again, but my system when using 2 gb RAM is slower than 1 gb RAM... after that i decided to sell my new memory to my friend. My new RAM is running well in my friends computer.. it`s mean there`s nothing wrong with the memory... anyone know how to solve this ?? another problem is when i use 1.5 gb memory , the computer can`t detect my radeon x550...

More people should complain with Asus support. Checking Asus forums, you'll find there's an obvious problem with a PCI-E video addon + 2 used memory slots. In my case, I had 2Gb (1 + 1), mb with bios version 1104, and it worked fine; when I installed a new PCI-E card, the system was very... very sluggish. Now I have uninstalled 1 memory, I'm using only 1Gb of RAM with the PCI-E card, and it's working well.

Again: checking Asus forum, this is a reported problem, and a bios bug... Asus should release a new bios version, but they seem not to bother, as this is a relatively "old' mb...

If the first ram module already installed was ddr400 as well, then there should be no reason for the computer to be that slow with an additional ddr400 gig. Probably your new module is faulty. If you can give it back to the seller and ask a replacement.

cheers

I Have ASUS P5RD1-VM series motherboard of which the LAN driver is being missing all the time. Pls. anybody help me. Regards Sachin

Open Advanced while in the bios. Than open Southbridge configuration.
Please check bios for Onboard LAN Page 2-24 in you're manual. Set this to [Enabled]
If you do not have this enabled the LAN controller will not function.
Once enabled in bios save and exit the bios menu.
Open windows update when you're system reloads.
Click the custom button when windows update open’s.
Windows update service will scan you're system and will see you're LAN is enabled.
Windows will list drivers for you're on-board built-in LAN controller.
Or you can use the Asus CD to install the LAN controller software.
If you're LAN controller does not function you may need to add a PCI eithernet card.

Good luck!

Hi! I recently bought a MSI MS-6741 Motherboard and set it up with a AMD Sempron 3100+(754) and 1GB of DDR400 RAM (Kingston KVR ,CAS 3.0) and Installed Vista Ultimate on the 120GB P-ATA IDE drive attached...

The board does support up to 2GB DDR400 RAM (for more info on the board try here).

You might also find MSI's support site helpful (here is link to your specific board that has up to date BIOS and drivers).

As for why your system only sees 512MB of RAM, I am not entirely sure, you could try running 'dxdiag' (just type dxdiag into the 'run' utility), which should give you a more accurate reading of how much RAM you have available. Otherwise, certainly try the BIOS update. If you are still seeing only 512MB afterwards, I would certainly be questioning the reliability the board (if the RAM has tested fine on other systems).

ASUS P5VD2-MX SE recognizes only up to 2500MB RAM

Hi,

Actually you are doing better than you think, According to your MB specs it is only supposed to hold a max of 2GB (1GB per slot). The updated BIOS may be allowing for the additional 500MB.

If you would like to verify, here is a link to the manual for your MB:

P5VD2-MX SE Manual

See page viii.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Hi shuter. Your Asus P5RD1-VM has an integrated video adapter ATI® Radeon 9600 GPU. You need to enter your bios & change the video start up order. Pg.2-22 in your manual.
Configuration options: [IGD] [PEG/IGD] [PCI/IGD]
Boot Graphics Adapter Priority [PEG/IGD]
Save & exit. Check system at boot up for correct memory count.

Computer wont start up when i add another 512mbs of ram

It is possible that there is some Memory incompatibility here (as I have seen this before). slightly incompatible RAM will work on its own, however when the second stick is added the system won't start.

I find that KINGSTON provides reliable mem and they have a web tool with which you can search for the device that you have.
(where they have tested and confirmed that the specified memory works), I think this is great and have used it several times myself.

Kingston valueram 512mb

How do you mean nothing is showing up?
The fact you can get into BIOS usually means that something is right.

This board can go upto 2GB RAM

look at the kingston configurator page for info and compare it against the memory you bought (exact part numbers are a must). With Windows VIsta Ultimate you should be using 1gb Sticks not 512.
