Question about ASUS P5RD1-VM Motherboard
After adding a 2nd kingston 1GB DDR400 ram same model, for a total 2GB, i updated the BIOS , but the system performance is lower now in comparison to a single 1GB.the games run with less fps and i have to take out the new RAM module.
More people should complain with Asus support. Checking Asus forums, you'll find there's an obvious problem with a PCI-E video addon + 2 used memory slots. In my case, I had 2Gb (1 + 1), mb with bios version 1104, and it worked fine; when I installed a new PCI-E card, the system was very... very sluggish. Now I have uninstalled 1 memory, I'm using only 1Gb of RAM with the PCI-E card, and it's working well.
Again: checking Asus forum, this is a reported problem, and a bios bug... Asus should release a new bios version, but they seem not to bother, as this is a relatively "old' mb...

I h.ave the same problem with my Asus P5RD1-VM. I updated to 2gb ultra ram and system boot is incredibly slow. Take 1 gb out and speed is back up. I have ordered new ram tried differnent ram slots - everything works until 2 x 1gb in computer. Looking for a solution

If the first ram module already installed was ddr400 as well, then there should be no reason for the computer to be that slow with an additional ddr400 gig. Probably your new module is faulty. If you can give it back to the seller and ask a replacement.
