That has to do with your settings. If you can access the setting on the printer you can change it to always on. Im not familiar with that printer but my okidata allows me to change it. you should be able to get into the setting by going to printers and faxes or start, control panel, printer & faxes. double click and find your printer. right click the icon and try going to properties and look in there for the option online/ offline. if not in there try printing preferences and check there. Hope this helps.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Did you run a test page? Are all the colors in the page shown? If someof the colors in the test page are not shown, there might be a defect in your color ink cartridge.

Dead printer?

I assume the transformer has 2 wires coming out of it. My guess is that the wire from the transformer is working however the wire leading from the Transformer to the printer is not.

You may need to purchase another power unit.
But on the bright side, a transformer is cheaper than a new printer.
:)

Hope this helps.

My HP Deskjet F4140 was working fine until I got a piece of paper stuck. I removed and now it wont print. States printer off line and can not print a test page. IT will copy however.

Turn it off. Unplug the power cord from the printer & usb wait a minute. Plug USB in & than the power cable & turn it on. Next
Open the Printers folder.
Right-click the icon of the printer in use, and then click Open .
Click Printer on the menu, and then ensure that there are no checkmarks next to Pause Printing or Use Printer Offline . If a checkmark is present on either, click the menu option to remove it. If the menu shows Use Printer Online , click that option.

HP Deskjet 840c - Printing Emails

I did see you reinstalled your software) but please continue
It is important that you have that icon by the clock. Power off the printer by pressing the power button on the printer.
Please un-install your printer software through Add/Remove Programs within the control panel. Please restart the Pc after un-install is complete. Create a folder on your hard drive and name it, "HP DeskJet 840C". Go to this link listed below & download the printer driver software listed. When you save to disk you can choose where you want to save. Pick the folder you created. Save inside this folder. The HP driver (Will most likely be updated software). I promise, you will have a icon down by your clock when finished.

Follow the instruction in your manual for setup & installation.
If you using Outlook Express & you want to print or send through your printer the page should be set as 8.5x11". Orientation should be set to Portrait, unless you set this for A4.
Lastly, please turn off your anti-virus software during install & re-install. Just in case you come back to this thread!
