Thank you, Ginko, for such a speedy reply. I am currently downloading the driver from the site you indicated. It is a 46 Mb file so will take me about 6-7 hrs with dial-up at 26.4 Kb/s. I live in the country so until I can afford a sattelite dish to get a faster connection I am stuck with this...LOL. You mentioned the 64 bit system and yes, the systemis supposed to be 64 but is running system32. It came with AMD 64 Live dual Processor. I tried re-installing software but it remained the same. I did do a file tranfer from old XP puter to new Vista, Could that have done it ?? This first time I have used the file transfer, so I do not know. I am a hardware tech not soft ware. I like building and updating puters. My first was an 8088 with 10 meg HD and 624 Kb memory, boy was it fast...LOL. I will let you know after I finish download and Thanks again. the message is probably saying that you do not installed he correct driver...Go to the HP support and download the correct driver..To do that select in the list the exact model and exact operation system for it ..If you use a newish operation system ..and it only have drivers for windows Xp or vista ..try to install the newer one ..(vista in our case ) ..and after install click right on the program ..and select properties..and compatibility ...then select to run in compatibility with the operation system your driver was made for ..If the driver is for vista ...select vista if it is for XP ..select xp ..and you have a 50% chances to work .. driver ( new one without issues on amd cpu on windows 7) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4062&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3737195#N189 If you have the os on 64 ..select the correct operation system in the list first ..this one is for 32 os.. read this first .. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03030583&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=3737195
If you can't download the full file and get an installation error from an incomplete file due to connection errors, the link to the full software above also has a link to order a new CD with the drivers.
Sometimes the scan error (when the printer itself works) indicates that the HP monitor isn't running (due to incomplete install or turning off the program (not letting it run at boot, for example). The other cause is a poor connection since scanners need bi-directional communication with the computer. Try a new data cable, plugging into a different port. If you have a print server or USB hub, try a direct connection.
Instal only one printer driver on the PC it is physically connected to. Preferably the Windows 7 PC (Latest OS). Unshare the printer, remove drivers from other PC's., then reboot al PC,s and re-share the printer. The PC's sharing should allow the Windows 7 PC to use it's driver, although they may request a disc for basic information about the printer.
Went to HP support web site and found the following info. The HP drivers link will take to their download site If you haven't installed the Vista Print drivers yet.
Our church bought new computers with Vista Busines two years ago and after struggling with it for 6 months went back XP Pro. This was before any Vista service packs had been released so I'm not sure if these issues have improved. We are in no hurry to upgrade to Vista. Some articles I've read about 6 months ago recommended waiting for windows 7. I haven't followed how the release of windows 7 is going. Vista is a VERY DIFFERENT ANIMAL and can be frustrating. Been there and I feel your pain. hp drivers and downloads Microsoft support
did u installed full dirver from cd of this printer? if not then remove it and installed again but remember before installing dont connect your printer with the laptop, let the driver ask for the printer and after that you can scan from your scanner
That's right. You'll have to install the XP driver on an XP PC, and share it to the other XP machines that way, or Install the driver on each PC individually -you can't share a Vista driver with XP PC's.
your hp photosmart 2570 printer driver is not compitable with vista drivers so its not getting loaded.as the printer is old and the vista is new.the printer will work properly with ---xp---98----and other windows operating systems.this is always a problem for the vista users as the printer does not get loaded.so you can call either hp to provide you a compitable driver cd of your printer to be loaded on vista.or you can call vista to upgrade your sytem by providing you a compitable driver cd.after that your printer will get installed and detected.
if you are doing a clean XP install the CD will ask if you if you want to change your partitions.Afterwards it will automatically format the hard drive. Some of the OS discs dont come with drivers you will have to hunt for them on the internet. If you are using a restore disc copyied from a working machine it should have generic drivers already loaded in the disc.
