    You not have to have a disk, but you have to have a driver for it to work.

    I have put the software driver for you on my website you can download it from there all you go to do is click on the link I put for you, it may take time to download for you depending on the speed of your internet all the best.

Hmm. Any computer running Windows 98 was manufactured between 1998 and 2000, i.e., well over TEN years ago.

So, you probably have a "hardware" problem, either:
* bad RAM
* dying CPU
* dying motherboard
* dying disk-drive

Download the free 'MEMTEST86+' software, and burn it onto a CD-R.
Start the computer, and tell it to boot from the CD-R disk.
This will run an exhaustive test of your RAM (and, as a byproduct, your CPU). Any "failures" usually point to bad RAM,
and any "freeze" or "lockup" usually point to a dying motherboard.

Maybe you can try reinstalling the driver or if the cartridge was bought from 3rd party, you might want to buy one directly from the manufacturer.
