It can not be reset. The unit has to be flashed with a service firmware to access the units flash drive. Then the missing or corrupted files need to be replaced. This is why the unit is crashing on boot-up.

Once the files have been restored then the unit can be reflashed with the factory standard firmware.

The problem you have right now is that the unit can not be found by your PC because its in an endless loop-boot-up and never reaches the main screen to detect that it is connected to a PC.

My p4425 will not boot up. just a blue start up screen.

If your medion gopal p4425 will not boot up, then there is a problem somewhere. The problem is minor as it is that, a file that supports its booting is missing.
Solution,
  1. Reset your gps receiver by pressing down the reset button for about 5 seconds or holding the power on/off button for about 15 seconds.
  2. The gps receiver will restart and that way boot normally.
If reseting does not solve the problem, then the solution is for you to format the gps and restore the gps software on it. To do that:
  1. Connect your gps receiver to your computer using a USB cable,
  2. Select the computer from your start menu,
  3. Right click on the gps receiver from the computer age,
  4. Select format drive,
  5. Do not quick format, format normally,
  6. Then go to your gps receivers website and download its software,
  7. Then transfer the software onto the gps receiver,
  8. You can download the latest version,
  9. Then copy your maps back on your gps receiver,
  10. Connect the gps receiver back on the car,
  11. Then turn it on,
  12. This time it will get passed the blue screen and boot normally.
That is how to solve the problem.

Hi I have a tomtom one and the problem is that it switches on for a few seconds then goes off with the green light still showing. I have tries charging it for approximately 24 hours and it held its charge...

You "MAY" have to flash the drive. To do this, just hold down the start button for approximately 15 secs. You'll then see a dark screen with different command strings listed, after doing this it should restart itself, if not, then just turn the unit off again & back on to see if it has corrected itself & boots up as normal.

Have a 4040 maestro magellan will not get off the magellan screen

if this just happened, and you have not tried to update it (sometimes the update causes this) then power the 4040 on and once it finished loading to the blue screen, using a paper clip, depress the reset switch on the left side and let it restart (little pinhole on the left side under the usb port)

if you need further help, just reply to this post.

Lowrance 330c screen says '' boot failed''

Try a hard reset:

1. Turn the LMS-330 off
2. Press and hold the ZIN, ZOUT, and PWR buttons
3. Release the three buttons once you see the "warning, do not rely..." message appear

If you get that far, the problem is solved. If you get boot failed again, try installing the latest update which can be downloaded from http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads/Product-Software-Updates/

If you still get boot failed, you will need to get the LMS-330 repaired/replaced. You can contact Lowrance support at 800-324-1356 or email them by going to http://www.lowrance.com/en/Support/Product-Support/Contact/
