SOURCE: can I add a NIC
Hi!
Yes, you can add a NIC card to your computer. There are several PCI slots on the computer where you can install a NIC card. You can also use a NIC card through a USB port ( use a Linksys USB10T). After you installed the NIC card, make sure to disable the built-in NIC card.
BUT, before you do that I would suggest to try to find out first the root cause of the disconnection problem. If your PC is connected straight to a modem , check if there is a problem with the modem or from your ISP's line. You can contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to verify if there is no problem in your area, or have them test your modem. You can also double check if everything is working fine from the modem by connecting a different PC to it. If the connection is stable using a different PC, then the problem is indeed your computer.
Try reinstalling or updating the driver of your NIC card. Click here to download the driver ( select Fall 2007 Original Realtek LAN Driver) . After updating the driver and you still have the same problem, install a new NIC.
Good luck and have a nice day!
