My Garmin NUVI 1300T which is about 2 months old and has the most recent software, with a full battery charge or plugged into a power source occasionally switches off completely during a trip and will not switch back again sometimes for some hours. I had this problem with a previous Garmin Nuvi 1300T and changed it for this current one. I beleive it is a bug in the most recent release of software. Garmin support have not yet replied to my support request.

My nuvi 1300t will not find satellite. I did as is says by taking outside away from buildings/trees. Haven't used it in a few months. Updated it. still doesn't find satellite. It says it's at the last location that I used it.

A Garmin Nuvi 1300 that won't start, freezes, or is acting erratically is symptomatic of having corrupt firmware.

To correct this, I recommend backing up your favorites, clearing all user data, and if it still is stuck, then updating your Nuvi firmware.

Follow these three steps to take to get your Garmin Nuvi 1300 running like new:

1. Back up your Favorites.
2. Perform a Hard Reset.
3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

OK i have the answer ,man i had the worst trip EVERY thanks to this charging flaw, the flaw is that the unit can only charge while off, so if your on a trip this will not work i had to drive 3,100 mile there and back i literally broke down and cried i was lost in tenissi with no idea what to do or where to go, i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this gps but it has a very big flaw in it being that you can only charge when it is turned off

TRY A SOFTWARE DOWN LOAD FROM WWW,GARMIN.COM
AND CHECK THAT THE FUSE IS OK IN THE CHARGER lIGHT WILL APPEAR ON THE PLUG, AND WHEN SWITCHED OFF A "CHARGING " MESAGE WILL APPEAR IN THE SCREEN

replaced battery. works fine now. holds charge for some six hours or more.

folks, the garmins have an on-board battery that needs to be powered up (at least occasionally) via the usb port - like from your computer. just using the dc car power cord does nothing for this battery. i've had this exact same problem on both my 760 and 780 nuvi units. fixed it using the usb charge. seems to run down differently for all the various nuvi models. my regular charge will hold for 7 hours on my old 660, my 760 and 780 work about 5 hours. my 'power up' failed on the 660 after 10 months with no internal battery charge, but the 7xx models only took about 5-6 months to 'fail.' hope this helps. jack b :-) in midland, tx usa
