Running Restore Plus! with associated HP XPP SP2 CD, runs fine until "Software is being installed for you. The system may reboot automatically. DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO YOUR COMPUTER DURING THIS PROCESS"...

Hello,

what could make your system hang is your hard disk. If the hard disk has a bad sector, then it will make the system to hang.

Observe the hard disk closely to know if it will bring any crackling sound/noise. This noise or sound indicates that the hard disk is bad.

So while considering other factors, consider your hard disk.

Good luck.

Corrupt or missing file but have no disc drive as it is a note book please install a copy of above program windows root system32 ntoskrnl.exe

IF YOU ARE USING A NOTEBOOK, IN MOST CASES YOU SHOULD HAVE A RESTORATION PARTATION ON YOUR HARD DISK.
If this file on your CD/DVD is corrupt, the chances are good it will find many more needed to complete the installation.
Find your restoration partation or get a good working copy or XP to install from.

There is a free program that will allow you to view and change your current product key. It is called Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder.

The link to this software can be found here. Go to download the latest build on the right side of the page, then run the program. Hope this helps!

The hard disk may have some bad sectors. Try zero filling the hard disk. Try to download the programs from http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/support/utilities/Support_HUTIL.html You will come to know if your hard disk is the culprit.
