sounds like your belt came off, if problem persists you will need a new one.
above is a generic video that applies to almost all belt driven turntables including yours that will show how to install the belt and a few other things.

I'm setting up my STR8-50 turntable and the table does not rotate when pressing the Start/Stop button. What is wrong?

Hi....I I think I can help you with this. I've checked a number of sites for the manual on this model. It's a belt driven model. Since you can hear the motor running, I'm betting that the belt has simply slipped off one of the drive pulleys during shipment. Or, worst case, the belt broke. A manual can be found here if you don't have one:

http://www.vinylengine.com/library/stanton/str8-50.shtml

The manual will show you how to remove the turntable plate and re-attach the belt.

HOW DO I INSTALL A TURNTABLE BELT FOR A SONY TURNTABLE

Under the felt of the turning section, there should be two rather large holes. Insert your thumb and forefinger and pull the table off. You should also see where the existing belt is running. Insert new belt around the motor first and replace the table section. Now, through the two holes, manouver the belt onto the table section until it spins freely

My sony cdp-cx300 when i turn it on i can hear the motor but the cd turn table doesn't spen and after a min. the digital read out says table error

It would have an error because the table wont turn. If you open it up, you will find that the rubber belt that drives the turntable is broken or worn out. It connects the turn table to the motor.

Changing the belt on a Technics SL-3 (Linear tracking) turntable

Instructions on installation of your drive belt - this also applies to other brands as well - however this belt is only for the Technics models listed above:
  1. Remove the turntable platter off from the turntable
  2. Remove the old/damage belt
  3. Wrap the new belt underneath the turntable platter - you will see a small lip on the bottom of the platter. Wrap the belt around this lip.
  4. Put the platter back on the turntable
  5. The turntable platter will have small holes, rotate the platter until you see the motor, and the motor shaft.
  6. Pinch the belt, so that it wraps around the motor shaft
  7. Turn on and enjoy!

Technics SL 1600Mk2 turntable works, but turns off seconds later

The SL1600MK2 is a direct drive turntable. Meaning that there are multiple electronic components which make it turn. With that said, the only place you can start is the main circuit board. Unfortunately, this will not be an easy diagnosis without the proper testing tools - multimeter, and a scope to get you started.

Otherwise, you'll have to take it to a service technican for repair.

Unfortunately, all parts for this model are discontinued, so if it's something that is specific to this unit, it will be very hard to source parts.

Belt on recordplayer (turntable)

Look at websites that sell Dj equipment.......search for places that sell technics turntables for DJs......and make sure they also have belt driven models like stanton turntables......if they do, then they might have the belt that you need. if they don't then they can probably order it for you or know where you can get the belt from!

if you wind up getting a new turntable, go with a direct drive model....they don;t have that problem as there are no belts!
