Question about InFocus LP650 Projector Lamp

InFocus LP650 will not come on

We have InFocus LP650 that is about 5 years old. Just assumed that bulb needed replacement, changed bulb but still would not come on. Power light is a steady blue color when plugged into power, pushing the switch button doesn't change it. This color is not listed in manual in troubleshooting section. I contacted InFocus tech support got no information from, they just wanted me to send unit to them with $350 diagnostic fee. I took the bulb and put it in another LP650 (we have 2) and it works fine. Anything else we could try?

That color is not listed because it is either Green or Red. There is no Blue, if you are getting Blue, you have something that is extremely unusual.

this projector does not have lcd's. it has a colorwheel and a light tunnel. the light tunnel has probably collapsed and needs to be replaced if you have distortion in the middle of the display. if it were to one side or the other or a the top or bottom it may have been adjustable. But wiith it being in the middle, I'd have to say you needed a new light tunnel.

My infocus will not come on. the red light blinks. change the bulb but didn't do any good

check the colorwheel. if the colorwheel doesn't spin, the lamp won't light. if no fans come on either, replace the power supply.

InFocus LP650 will not come on

First try a firmware upgrade. If that doesn't help, it seems it might be a power supply issue since you said the led comes on very light. I repair these power supplies. My ebay id is gtitubro

I can almost guarantee that your bulb is out. We probably have 20-30 projectors of this model in the school and bulb life averages a little over 100 hours even though they advertise 3000 hours. Infocus has been known most for their poor cooling system to the bulb over the years and most owners won't get the life expectancy of the bulb. If you remove the bulb you will find a small restrictive vent screen on the bulb and commonly it will be filled with collected dust. This model really doesn't have any removable/cleanable filtering system installed - again a cheap and poorer design then many other brands. We have decided not to purchase infocus projectors anymore in the district. They were a seller at one time because they were cheap, but because they don't last they weren't really a deal after all. Sometimes though a ballast for a projector will go out and it will be unable to power up a good bulb. I wouldn't consider fixing it because of their overall poorer reliability.  If your looking for a cheap but more reliable brand of projectors I'd steer towards Epson projectors. They tend to have lower costing projectors and bulbs then most and I have seen in person that they last well above their advertised lamp hours in different models. Their are many good brands out there but InFocus is not really one of them - they have under built projectors and poor phone support.
Hope this helps a little. - Scott
