Usually if you buy a camera, gadgets etc will bundled with a cd which is driver actually. if your operating system is vista, then you must make sure that the camera will work in that operating system. You can read it on the manual or etc or in the box. install the software in the cd first before you plug the camera into your pc. the software must be included with the appropriate driver.

When I start my camera, i get the following error cannot instantiate filtergraph Any ideas please?

Your software is probably designed to run on Windows XP. If you are using a Vista or Win7 PC, your camera software might not run correctly. Try going to your camera web site, clicking on support, putting your model number (and perhaps serial number) in and download the correct driver for your operating system. Install the new driver by double-clicking on it and your camera should work.

  • The drivers needed to connect most Sony® cameras and camcorders to a computer are already included in the Windows Vista and Windows XP operating systems. With these drivers, you should be able to connect and transfer files to a computer.
Note: If the your camera or camcorder is not recognized by the computer when connected, you may need an updated driver.
  • Detailed Windows Vista compatibility information is available for Sony Cameras and Camcorders.
  • The Windows Vista Starter edition and Windows XP 64-bit operating systems are not supported.

Driver Issues on Windows Vista Basic

As an adhoc solution you may try to download drivers for XP SP2, tell the driver installation applet to search for drivers from the folder you downloaded them to when it tells you this driver was not made for Vista tell it to install them anyway. It may not work but as this manufacturer is no longer in the modem biz vista is not supported by them at this time.

    No drivers for wireless lan

Any hardware which Vista can identify and install drivers for will operate correctly after upgrading your computer to Vista (given that the hardware is in working order). If you can't use them, Vista either has an incorrect or no driver for them. I have a printer that Vista erroneously identifies, and installs the wrong driver for. I had to contact HP for the correct driver. I suggest going directly to the websites of the manufacturers of your hardware for the drivers. If you need further help, please let us know.
