When the file finishes downloading, double click on the file to run it. You will be prompted for a location to unpack the files to. It is recommend that you use something easy to remember such as:
Once the files are done unpacking, open My Computer and go to the folder the files were unpacked to (from the previous step). There should be a file in this folder called DXsetup.exe (or DXsetup). Double click this file and follow the instructions.
Once DirectX 9 is installed, your computer will need to reboot. After it has rebooted, you should be able to run Prison Tycoon 3.
It is a direct x problem. Go to Microsoft's download site and download the latest version of direct x for your computer. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en

This could be solved by installing DirectX 9.0c Option 1: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en Follow the instructions in the link and when prompted to Save/Open select open. If this does not work follow the option below Option 2: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4B1F5D0C-5E44-4864-93CD-464EF59DA050&displaylang=en Follow instructions and when prompted Select Save. When the file is downloaded , unpack the files and the run the DXsetup.exe file
After installing the DirectX 9.0c reboot the computer
the solution on the cd disc is to remove the cd out then uninstall the all games installed in this cd drive replace cd drive when it comes to uninstalling sim delux is goto where saved games in sim deluxe and save folder to a different location then uninstall then re-install with new cd drive and hunt net for nc patches for games that work if this still doesn't work time for re-install windows from scratch if you have a spare hard drive use it to copy all game saves to it then redo windows and all drivers then all games then place saves back into place where they came from.
