You need to install a PDF printer driver on your computerfirst. There are quite a few freeware PDF writer programs on the Internet youcan download one such as CutePDF.
Open your documents on the CD then click on File - Print and select the PDF writer as theprinter device. Then name and save the PDF file. To download Cutepdf PDF printer driver (freeware) click onthis link :- http://www.cutepdf.com/

My tsst corp cd-writer/dvd-ROM combo only has cd-r in recording tab how do i add a dvd r

when it said "dvd-ROM" .. that means it can only read DVDs (ROM read only memory) .. it cant write DVD... it can only write CDs ... if you want to write to DVDs then you will need to replace the drive ... what you want is a CD/DVD writer ... around here refurbished ones are not very expensive and work great .. you will have a choice of SATA or PATA .. if you have an older computer then its likely PATA .. PATA drives have a wide flat cable connecting them to the computer .. SATA cables are small like lamp cord ... if you get a new drive as a replacement then put the drive select jumper in the same selection as the old one (master, slave or CS) .. another option is you can just add the new drive if you have room .. that way you will have two drives .. you can copy from one to the other .. in that case, if both drives are on the same cable then one must be jumpered as a master the other as a slave ..

Purchased 4480 Deskjet on or about 1/18/10 to go with HP 6250 Pavillion. Printer software would not install?? Please advise

1. Check the disk on another computer and see if you get response from the disk.
a. if you do then this may be your cd rom or DVD read/writer is not working properly.
b. If not, then the cd make be a corrupted copy.
2. Call the manufacturer and ask for a new copy since you have just purchased the printer. They should be happy to send you a new copy of the installing software.
3. Take the unit and all it's compnents back to the place of purchase and inform them of the issue and request a new printer with a new copy of the installing cd and get assurance from the store manager that if it doesn't work can you bring the unit back and get a refund.

Doesn't burn or play CD's or DVD's..it doesn't recognize the CD which is to be burned

check the my computer icon to see if your cd drive letter is listed. usually it is your D drive. If it is there and won't read CD's drive is either dirty or needs to be replaced. Pick up a CD drive cleaning kit.

My avent notebook pc has no cd/dvd player

  1. Use an External Optical Drive (can be bootable)
Required: External optical drive (can be purchased by vendor directly, or cheaper by another vendor like NewEgg)
External optical drives are the easiest way to use CD/DVD media and install software to your Tablet PC. It is however, normally the most expensive. External DVD readers can be had online for less than $100 now days, but you will likely pay over $200 at your local Best Buy or Circuit City.
External drives are very simple; just plug it into an available USB port, and a power outlet if needed and you’re good to go. Your Tablet PC should automatically detect the drive and simply add it to My Computer just like a built in drive. Some drives will even run power through the USB, while this makes them more mobile it eats up your Tablet PC battery faster, if that is a problem other external drives do require a power outlet for use but should not drain your battery.
You can also use an online outlet (such as NewEgg.com) to purchase an external enclosure for around $20, and then a old-fashioned CD/DVD drive (not writer) for $20 creating a budget oriented $40 fully functional external enclosure.
The one trick with external drives is not all external drives are bootable. Trial and error has revealed it appears the enclosure, not the drive itself, is what determines if it is bootable. This creates the advantage to making your own external drive in that if it is not bootable you can (assuming you can’t return anything) get a new enclosure for around $20 instead of being out the larger amount for a pre-assembled external unit.
> Note: Optical drives that are packaged or sold by your Tablet PC vendor should be bootable unless otherwise specified.
> Note: You want your optical drive to be bootable (and external optical drives are the only bootable method) in the event you have to A) Use your factory restore CD to, restore your tablet to factory settings… or B) Complete an entire re-format. These should be the only times you would need your optical drive to be bootable.
  1. Create an Image (not bootable)
Required: Image making software (like Alcohol 120% or VirtualDrive), image emulation software (Alcohol 120% includes one, Dameon Tools is another), access to a computer with an optical drive, and a method to transfer a large file from that computer to your Tablet PC.
You will need to use your particular software User-Guide for most of this process. What you do essentially is use software to create an exact copy of the CD in the form of a file (normally a .iso) that has to be read by an optical drive emulator which then can access the CD as if it were being read by a real optical drive. The biggest disadvantage to this method is that CDs can run around 700mbs, DVDs around 4gbs… transferring files of that size, even over fast networks, can be tedious. A benefit however is you can carry important CDs (as files) with you as you go, so for example if you need to install Microsoft Word content to use some feature while your in a meeting, you can do so without having the physical CD with you… This however of course requires heavy disk space since the CD file tends to be around 700mbs.
> Note: The legality around creating CD images is grey. You should be fine as long as you only make (and do not share with anyone) images for CDs you physically own, and only install it on the number of machines that matches the number of licenses you own (most software you purchase includes one license). It’s simple, if your honest and fair you should be fine under the law, if your not… then user beware

Epson Stylus SX100 installation CD is not read

Hello,

There are chances that the installation CD is faulty itself. If it is the original manufacturers installation CD, and appears to be free of scratches and smudges, this is most likely not the case. I would insert a combination of at least one other software CD and one recordable CD in the CD drive of your computer CD/DVD drive to see if these discs are being scanned, read, and show data on those CDs. We want to pinpoint the problem, to make sure that the hardware failure of CD Drive is not to blame, but it could be.

A Disc can spin around in an optical drive, and have laser read issues, and still end up being faulty, and eventually need to be replaced.

If you determine that you need a new Printer installation CD/DVD, and all other data discs work fine in that optical drive, you can download printer driver software directly from the manufacturers web site.

If you provide me all the model and manufacturer details of your new printer, I can locate this direct download link for you, and provide that to you.

Best of Luck!

Xpertdragon.
