It's a good one..you may need to go to your image application, and choose the printer, from a list, or most likely get the driver from the application website for this new printer.

got backup?

How do I lighten color on hp deskjet F4400 series?

Explain what you want to accomplish please.

If yor printer soaks plain paper with too much ink, go to printer properties and change the media type to plain paper, and the print quality to Standard or even Draft.

If however you want to print pictures on photo paper, and they are too dark/saturated, you need to adjust the photos using some picture edit/touchup application - there are plenty of them available free online, or on computer magazine CDs etc.

When I am printing from My Pictures site the photos come out very dark is there some way that I can make them lighter

Yes, before printing them out, first download them on your computer and use a software like Microsoft Office picture manager or a more professional tool called Adobe photoshop. With Microsoft's software you don't need special training to fix the light issue but for photoshop it requires some training in order for you to use it.

In case you chose to use picture manager, open it and at the right of your screen you can see a pane with the Getting started, from the pane they're sub headings like Browser, Edit and Share

What you need is the under the Edit sub heading.

Play around with the Brightness and Contrast option.

Hope you see wonders. In case of any problems contact back.

Was printing photos all was ok then printer stoped printing black

There are 4 inks, cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. When the black runs out, you are left with sort of a dark purple or brown color.

I can scan and edit the text with the Kodak ESP-3

You can edit the pictures using Kodak's retouching software.Scan quality was a little better but also retained the dark compression issues.

The Kodak ESP 3 comes with great software for editing photos and applying touch-ups to portraits, but printer software is only as good as the physical results, and the print quality isn't nearly up to current industry standards. Your $150 would be much better spent on alternative multifunction printers.

Prints photos with yellow horizontal stripes.Hv downloaded HP printing diagnostic utility and no errors were reported. If just using scanner to copy photos, prints fine but copying photos in library p

go into the printer and do a test print. start>printer & faxes>right click on the printer in question>properties>printer preference button> test print ... try the printer's own test print. This is usually caused by a poor print head, low ink, poor cartridge or the need for calibration. Look in the maintenance tab in the printer properties for head cleaner, jet cleaner etc. This also happens with refill ink cartridges.

My printer has suddenly started printing terrible quality photos

It's possible that your cartridges are leaking into the printhead and cross polluting the other colours or there is a problem with the parking pad where the printhead "rests" when not in use.

I'd recommend removing your cartridges and checking for any ink leaks on these and/or puddles of ink in the printhead.

Then check the parking pad for any puddling of ink...

Given that you have a CX6600, which is now quite an old model, you may have a clogged waste ink tube and this is causing cleaning cycles to expiate ink into the parking pad but not actually draw it away, thus soiling the underside of the printhead.

Resolving this is not easy but involves a suitable inkjet cleaning solution (ammoniated windex is recommended in the USA) and leaving this in the parking pad to work at any clogging. It's likely to take a few days and repeated application of cleaning fluid but if a clogged waste pump is the issue this should eventually clear it.

One other possible cause is a dead pump.. If that's the case, it's time for a new printer as it's just not worth fixing.

Hope that gives some ideas.

Dark photos

Check your custom settings in the Lexmark printer utility. I have a different model but mine allows for lightening and darkening of output. Variations in ink density and paper differences make this almost a necessity.
