It says the paper is jammed, but there's no paper in it!!

Its telling me there is a paper jam , but theres no paper in it. When I turned it off and turned it back on, it ran the paper through it back out (while it was warming up) but then gave me the paper jam message again. I reaaallly need to use my scanner, and I can't figure out how to fix it. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out ^^ Thanks

I've already poked around every nook and cranny for paper, but I can't see, feel, or find anything.

I've already done the check on the bottom and back and followed those steps D= Its still not working, I will probably go buy a cheap printer/scanner this evening because I have important assignments due Monday.

Thanks for the help, if anyone else has something to add its appreciated ^^

This is an awesome printer. Did you know it can duplex (print on both sides of the paper) automatically? The jam "could" be in the duplexer on the back or, the duplexer unit isn't locked into place.

Unplug the printer and open the rear door, check for visible paper jam, remove, close door.

There's also access to the feed mechanism from the bottom of the printer.

Unplug printer.

(1) Remove the Cassette. (paper tray on bottom of printer)

If the paper is loaded in the Auto Sheet Feeder (on back of printer), remove the paper from the Auto Sheet Feeder and close the Paper Support.
(2) Stand the machine with the left side down.
(3) Slowly pull the jammed paper out while pulling the green cover toward you.

Caution
Set the machine back to its original position immediately after removing the jammed paper.
(4) If any paper is sticking out of the Cassette, reload the paper in the Cassette.
Reload paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder, if necessary.
(5) Insert the Cassette into the machine.
(6) Press the OK button on the machine.

There's probably a small piece of paper inside the mechanism. open it up, and look carefully. sometimes these pieces are really small, and hard to find. Be AWARE NOT to use a sharp or pointed object while doing this.

ALSO..disconnect power from wall before opening this up

got backup?

I had the same problem for DAYS and there was no paper jammed at all. I went to the cannon site as a last ditch effort & the solution below fixed it. Just clean the rollers and the link tells you how. Good luck!

My epson cx3200 says paper jam, I dont see any paper jamed, when i press the button to say ive cleared it,it then runs a sheet of paper through it and says paper jam again, surely if there was a paper jam...

Paper jams can be tricky to solve. The paper is usually stuck inside the printer mechanism so even if there is no visible paper jam, you will still get the paper jam error. Try this:

1. Turn off your printer
2. Open all trays and remove any paper stuck there
3. Locate the button to open the printer, open it and remove any paper stuck there also.
4. Repeate the above step for all buttons that you can find to access the inside of the printer
5. Close all doors and put back all trays
6. Turn on your printer

My canon MP620 Paper Jam Pull out the Jam Paper Al

There are pieces of paper stock on the sensor, when the paper jam happened then you pull out the paper did you get the whole page of the paper or have missing pieces? open the paper guide, turn off and on the printer and observe the unusual objects in the roller, this error is caused by objects in the sensor.

Paper jam problem

Remove the back cover and put an index card thru where the paper goes, that should push out any left over scraps.

Canon MP600 paper jam

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.
