Thank you; I thought and hoped it would be do straight forward...

I took the cover off and I see two fuses, neither of which are blown. Perhaps its a diode but I'm an amateur... how does one identify a blown diode (or fuse for that matter that I may have missed) without being to aggressive and taking things completely apart??

    Appreciate the help!

    You were correct!

I found the fuse. It was hiding underneath and just to the left of the power cord receptacle.

It is a small glass tube fuse and I can read 5G on it but how would I find the correct replacement fuse?? does anyone have the specs on it??

    Thank you!

My F38310 just did the same thing. The fan runs and the power light on top of the TV goes green, however, the picture and sound never start. Can you tell me what might be wrong? If it is this fuse, can you tell me specifically how to get to it?

    Thanks in advance.

No power to kv-27fs120. suggestions on repair

Is it completly dead or do you hear a click (internal to TV)?
If completely dead - check main ac fuse.
Otherwise here are some tips:

A dead set (no picture no sound) can indicate any number of problems – Usually the set is in shutdown or protection mode – this means that the internal circuits have detected a problem with a supply voltage missing, drawing too much current, going over voltage or a short condition.
The first thing to do is power off the set unplug it for 5min. than replug and try again. This in effect resets the main micro and will sometime unlatch a fault and resume working. There are certain common problems based on the make model (forSony -bad solders on horizontal drive transformer/regulators short)– for instance convergence output IC’s(CRT projection TV’s) can cause a dead set symptom in many models. Vertical output IC failure can also cause the same symptom (CRT standard and Projection).
The only way to determine the real cause is :
By an educated guess based on experience or by directly troubleshooting the set – checking fuses, measuring voltages and checking for shorts. Many of the intermittent problems such as, int.(Intermittent) no sound or picture, int. picture shrunken or misshaped. These problems are generally due to cold (bad) solder joints (all TV’s and electronics) that break down under slight temperature changes or vibration and are usually verified by physically tapping the suspected area on the circuit board, or by quickly heating or cooling a suspected component or area ( cold spray and hot air gun). The other main culprit is leaky or dried out capacitors or capacitors that change value depending on temperature. These can sometimes be seen as bulged or leaky and have an acrid odour. Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

MY TV is dead!

There is a install kit 483531057673 for this model when the set is dead. The kit will contain 7404 and the Horizontal Driver Transformer 5402 along with resistors that will limit stress on 7404 and includes complete instructions.

Kv24fs120 dead set with two led blinks

Two-blinks of the "Diagnostic STANDBY/TIMER LED" indicates one of two things:

1) Horizontal Output (Q502) in shorted on the A-board.

or

2) IC702 is shorted (CB board)

Two-blinks of the diagnostic red LED is a " B+ Overcurrent" problem.
The red LED will blink 2-times, stay off for 3 seconds, then blink 2-times. The cycle repeats.

The circuit board is quite delicate. One should not attempt repairs (unless one has high quality vacuum desoldering equipment such as a PACE desoldering unit).

This set is very popular for the capacitors to dry upa and go bad in the main SMPS as well as the switching power supply. If you have no know how on how to test capacitors or solid state electronics please take the set into a repair shop for an estimate
