When replacing a motor belt on my Singer Futura 920, are there any markings that need to be matched? Any other adjustments that might need to be made after a belt breaks? Out of time? I have replaced the belt and a shaft washer, new needle, but cannot get a smooth stitch. changing the upper tension does nothing to change the stitch. Bobbin winds smoothly. needle to hook looks right as do the timing marks on the needle bar.
Thanks for any help.
The top tension is dependent not just on the tension dial, but also on the little disks that you go through to thread the machine. If it is not threaded correctly, you will get bunching underneath. Sometimes I just have to rethread the machine-- when you get to the disks- hold the thread taut and push it through the disks before going up to the arm part. Here is a threading picture I found- but it doesn't point out the disks too much. Once the machine is stitching nicely, then the tension dial can be used to flatten out the stitches.

I always thread my machine with presser foot up, tension between 4&6 Also tried threading maching thrrough take up lever. Put presser foot down and pulled on thread while changing upper tension dial from 0-9. No change in resistance on thread. I'm stuck.
Changing the upper tension dial is not changing the resistance on the thread. I'm stuck. any other ideas?? Thanks
