Hi Claude,

It could be any of the three video related sub-systems:
1. Cold Cathode Florescent Lamp;
2. Inverter board; and/or
3. Video interface board.

Of the three, 1 and 2 has been known to occur more often. To verify if it's either the CCF Lamp or the inverter, pls:
a. run the unit normally albeit you can't see anything. Pop in a known good DVD disc and play.
b. shine a flashlight at an angle relative to the screen;
c. see if you can see some semblance of the video (though it may really be very dark).

If yes there is display but dark, then you have isolated the problem to either of the 2, if none then the problem is with the video interface.

Corrective procedures would require knowledge and familiarity with electronic components and circuitry, use of a DVM and possibly a soldering iron. Should you not be comfortable on a Do-it-Yourself, perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional or your friendly neighborhood electronic shop.

I had the same problem. I switched the AV switch from OUT to IN and back, a few times, and the LCD image miraculously and surprisingly returned.

Hey, I dont know if i have a solution, I stumbled on your posting looking for parts for my MP007. I have sound but no screen also and noticed that when I try to use a Playstation 2 on it and fidget with the AV in/out switch while in the "in" position, the picture cuts in and out. So im going to replace the switch and see if that works.

Did you check the LCD off/on button on the remote?
