Question about Dryers

Kenmore dryer Please Help, I have a kenmore dryer (old) and the belt broke so I would like to replace it but the problem is I don't know where this wire connect to. The front door panel and a yellow/red wire from the electronic control circuit board going down below the vent blower chamber. Don't know where they go because a repair guy disconneted it and I didn;t see how he did it. I told him to leave it like that and to leave because he tried to over charge me being a female. So I bought the part but the wires is preventing me from putting it together. Please help!!!!! it's been over a month of not drying clothes- yes how spoiled we get with technology ********

wire harness coming to the side to connect to the front door panel but I don't know which terminal each wire connect to. And the other wire the wire diag. it has the yellow/red y-r wire coming from the electronic control c-version but it attaches to the resistor board near the timer switch
The dryer is an old dryer and I both it used so I am not sure of the age - old

Master Tech.interesting that you'd take this approach, since this sort of deal is just the type that frustrates everyone. I'd like to see how this comes out. I was unaware that it's the province of some experts to charaterize other experts inputs, unfavorably. Is that your understanding, MasterTech?

the yellow wire should go to the door switch should be a white wire on the door switch too the red wire should go to the drive motor to terminal 5 look where the wires plug on the motor and you should see some numbers on it

  • robert samples Feb 16, 2008

ok lets deal with the door first are there three connections at the door switch one stright in one stright out and one slanted if there is then get the colour of the wire that runs from the drum light to the door switch

  • robert samples Feb 16, 2008

Sounds to me you either blew the fuse or tripped the circuit for the heating element. Try replacing the fuse or resetting the breaker before trying any repairs.

Kenmore dryer not spinning---how do i disassemble to see if belt or motor is bad?

kenmore dryers are the easiest dryers to work on. unplug! remove 2 screws @lint screen top. insert screrwdriver under top @ each end and pop top up. disconect wires to door panel. remove 2 5/16 screws at each end inside. lift front door panel up and out.( the bottom of the panel is held by spring clips. replace belt if broke. remove drum if not and check rollers. note: belt route at idler pulley.
