If there is any pin point holes around or on the disk tray then take a push pin and push in the hole the tray should manualy pop open. from there you would have to pull the tray completely open. if not. it could be a faulty motor. in which case you will have to get the tv or dvd player replaced. not worth fixing if it is under warrenty. if not. you are better off letting go and moving on.

I have a superscan tv vcr dvd combo and the dvd player makes a horrible screeching noise when i try to open it and play a dvd. Any ideas on how to fix this?

either some foreign object is also inside or a problem with the mechanism---someone would have to peek inside with it in operation to see (or in this case listen) to see where it sound is coming from.

I have dvd/combo Apex GT1417DV. The problem is there is a DVD stuck inside. The disc tray will open and close with no sign of the DVD inside! Any suggestions? (My kids have also loaded a 2nd DVD into he...

The first DVD you inserted may have slipped into the cabin of TV. It will be there inside, but to take it our you have to open your TV and take the loading mechanism out of it. It is a semi-skilled job, if you have confidence, you can do it yourself. When taking out the mechanism, make sure not
to damage any connection wires from DVD player to main board of the TV. OK.

Is LG a piece of what?

First off let me try to figure out your vocabulary..
The answer is No there not a piece of *****

What happends over time here is the little band inside slips causing the try to open and shut and so on, will take sooe rk to fix. Being that it is a combo unit a repair bill would not be in the budget. But if you put in a disc and it ejects it before it starts to even try to read then you got a stuck HAT, the HAT is the piece that helps the motor spin the disk. The unit will need to be opened to see what is wroung inside.

Thanks and do be considerate and leave a postive rating and feedback.

Dvd player will not play dvd

I don't know the age of this DVD drive, nor how often it has been used, but the drive may be at the end of it's 'Life Cycle'. All mechanical devices for a computer have a rating of so may hours of usage.

It could be just something simple though. It may be that the optical eye inside your DVD drive is just dirty, and cannot read DVD's anymore. My solution for this, is to just buy a can of compressed air for computers, and blow the inside of the DVD drive out.

Computer on, open the tray for the DVD drive. Now shut the computer off normally. The dvd drive tray should stay open. Unplug the computer from the surge protector.
Break the plastic lock tab, off of the top of the can of air. This lock tab is put there to prevent depressing the trigger during shipping.
Insert the plastic 'straw' provided with the can of air, into the nozzle.

Try to hold the can of air in a vertical position, as you are using it. (Do Not shake the can) This is not always possible, and it is my contention, that if you are doing a good job, inevitably you will tilt the can along the way. You may see what looks like moisture, coming out of the can if you tilt it. This is okay!
What you are seeing is the propellant for the can of air. The stuff that pushes the air out of the can.

You can stick the straw into your DVD drive opening. Depth is up to you. I advise aiming at the top/backside, and spray your way towards the front. Start from either the left or right side, and go across. Make rows as you move towards the front.

Now go towards the bottom side. This side is your most concern. The optical eye is located on the bottom. You won't be able to view it though. Start at the back/bottom, and making rows again, work your way towards the front.

As you go along with the can of air, you may notice the pressure drops. This is because the air is coming out so fast, that the moisture in the outside air freezes. The straw and nozzle freezes up. You may notice frost on the outside top of the can.

Let the can of air sit for a few minutes. The can will warm up, and you'll be able to use it again.

When you are satisfied the inside of your DVD drive is clean, let the tray set open for a few minutes.
Ten minutes or so, should be okay Sometimes the frozen moisture, and/or propellant, will linger inside the drive. It should dry out within that ten minute span.

If you are satisfied that the inside of the DVD drive is dry, plug your computer back into the surge protector. Wait One minute. Turn the computer on.

TV shuts itself off after a few minutes. Will also shut itself off if the DVD open/close button is pushed. Not sure if a DVD is in the machine or not. Any ideas??

I know that shortly after I purchased this tv mine also shut itself off occasionally. The owners manual says that if it is on dvd mode and it's paused or on an inactive menu or something for 15 minutes or so that it would shut itself off. If a dvd is stuck inside it may be causing this? I have no idea about the open/close malfunction.

Dvd Ejection

There is a small switch inside the unit mounted at the door stop, or on a cam that drives the door that is broken or out of alignment. Good Luck
