Question about Brother HL 5250DN Laser Printer
I bought my Brother HL-5250DN 6 weeks ago and have printed maybe 1000 pages. The toner light just went on and the printer no longer will print. The toner cartridge seems just fine and I can't override the error to get the machine to print. Any ideas?
On my unit, the toner light was lit steady amber and the Status light was steady red. I tore a small square out of a post it note, off the top (so that it had adhesive on it), and used that to cover the sensor path way found on either side of the toner cartridge. It is a clear plastic hole, centered toward the bottom of either side of the cartridge.

There's a reset flag that's set on the toner cartridge. Found out about it on oasis-imaging's refubishing pages: http://www.oasis-imaging.com/images/pdf/cart_inst/TN580.pdf
But my solution was to take the cartridge out, look inside the printer unit where the cartridge was and notice on the left hand side a small lever. Tape that down in the up position and continue printing.
It worked for me - I'd be interested to hear if it worked for you.
