There may be a clash between lifecam and MSN. close MSN and alll other IMs. uninstall lifecam. restart the PC, install webcam SW with the cam unplugged. After installation plug the cam ina USB port and let Windows read the drivers and install the cam, Once that is done, now you can configure the cam in your IMs one by one.
Most of those driver CDs only work if you plug the camera in after the CD is done. So since you've already ran the CD, try just unplugging it and plug it back in and wait a sec for Windows to find it. If that doesn't work, try a different USB port (assuming it's USB). I have seen USB ports just go bad, and their neighbor works just fine.
In the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to update the driver see if this helps
if that does'nt help you can do a winupdate
before you try to reinstall make sure its removed from add remove in control panel
unplug the cam restart pc and run software don't plug in cam until instructed
if you still have a prob then

Speaker's are correctly chosen.Then

record. Then when finished talking wait for the test persons voice to
insure your audio transmission is working. Then go back to options and
test your video settings. Click on Video Settings and proceed to set up
you video camera. Also, you can visit this site for additional
information to setup video.
Hope this helps. Bud
start from scratch here..plug and play should see that camera on USB port(try more than one if you have them) and then follow the install guides. You MAY need to remove those old install programs, through Add/Remove programs in control panel.
