The backlight on my sidekick 3

What you are describing is the backlight is burned out. Th eonly way to fix this is to replace the scree.

The best place to look is on ebay. They show up on there from time to time.

Another option is to pick up another ID with a good screen but other problems. They are easy to switch screens. 2 screws T6 torx

If you do buy one from eBay, make sure that the LCD is good and the backlight works. Ask the seller

You need to replace you LCD. About 50 bucks from ebay. most come with good instructions and the screwdriver. You will need a T6 Torx driver to open the LCD.

In both cases you lcd screen has died, the backlight will usually go first.

Fixing them is easy, a new lcd screen assy can be purchased from ebay for less than 45 dollars. It only take the removal of 2 screws to replace it. Read throught the procedure below.

Is it the LCD back light? If so, it probably burned out. Did the phone get wet recently? That is usally the main cause.

You can get a replacement screen on ebay for about 40-50 dollars. Look for ones that come with the instructions and screwdriver. You will need a T6 Torx Driver.

Have you tried checking the Battery and Display settings from the main screen Settings menu? There is an option to enable or disable the backlight, as well as set the brightness.

There is also a setting called "Use ambient light sensor", which sets the backlight and keyboard light to only turn on if it is dark when you are using it.

i have the same problem with my sk3 the back light dosnt come on if i set it only the keys do ?? what do i do???

go on ebay a search for "sidekick 3 lcd" there are dealers on there that have the part for around 40 dollars, and will email you instructions on how to replace it too
