Question about Lakewood LAKQTV22 Utility Heater

Will not stay on

I bought this heater only a couple of months ago. Now it doesn't want to stay on. It shuts off even when it is still cold in the house. I have it on the highest setting. Could the thermostat be going out already?

That is what is sounds like. Either that or the over heat protection is kicking it out to when its not supposed to.

How do you shut down

the pilot light always stays on, its designed to allow your heater to turn on by itself without you needing to light a match every time. if the pilot light is burning you have nothing to worry about. its when the pilot light goes out that a small amount of gas leaks into the room. and by small i mean smaller than a hand held lighter... if you still want to shut the entire thing down you could turn off the gas line feeding the heater or possibly the whole house, otherwise the pilot light will stay on. as far as the actual heater turning off, thats probably controlled by some sort of thermostat somewhere. if you set the temp to very cold it should stay off. if that doesn't work then you may need a new thermostat.

My Lakewood 633 will not shut off unless I shut it off. I fugure that it's a thermostat problem but how can I access it. I bought it two months ago.

Two months ago, it should be covered under warranty. Visit this page for service center info and parts.

Heater stopped working suddenly

In the past I have nothing but problems with DeLonghi heaters. I replaced them with Pelonis heaters and have had no problems since. Pelonis heaters are availible from Home Depot at a very reasonable price. This is based on my experience only. Hope it helps.

Mr. Heater Buddy Portable Problems...

ok, your unit must be propane. look on the back where the propane line feeds the nozzle. there should be a very small copper line with two spade connectors on it. this is your millivolt generator line. with a flame at the nozzle the generator makes a very small electrical current which feeds to the main valve and keeps it open. take a piece of wire and jumper these two spade connections together and try lighting the unit again. if it stays on, the hi limit is shot. you can get by with the connections jumped out, you just don't have the safety margin if it were connected. IF with the spade connections jumped out the unit still shuts off, the generator tube needs to be changed.
