make sure you have the Ps2 network adapter on your PS2. After that just simply connect and Ethernet cable to the back of the adapter. The other end of the cable goes to your router of course. Turn on router make sure you have a connection on your computer.( e.g. internet works) Then turn on your ps2, put in a game with online capabilities. Go to the online section of the game and create your account. And there you go, you should be connected. Keep in mind some ps2 online might not work they might of taken the servers done since PS3 is now primarily used online.
Do you have it hooked up to the computer or the modem. The ethernet from the console connects into the modem so firewall should not be an issue. Also, most games only support the 2 latest versions of the game for online play.If you are getting a could not find server message or something similar, your game is no longer online playable.Like now would be Madden 2009 and 10 only.If you have it hooked up like I said, just post a comment to this and I will get an auto email with your comment.
Good luck! Greg
Here are some steps for you to follow and check through if you got some already done: First and foremost, you MUST buy a network adapter, without it you cannot get online. After that install it by removing the Expansion Bay cover and plug it in. Screw in the screws with a coin to keep it secure. 3. Connect you network adapter to the Ethernet port slot and the other end to where you connect your Internet to. 4. Follow the steps provided to connect to the Internet which will be in the instruction manual if you bought your network adapter new, or it will be a run-through included within the game, or you can find the steps here:
This wil allow you to setup without a disk. If everyhing goes well, you should be online. And now for the last step: ENJOY!
Place your ps2
in an area that will allow for plenty of airflow, and is relatively
close to the television that you intend on hooking it up to.
Check your TV or monitor for available video inputs. The most common are composite cords, which come with a new PS2. This cord has one plug on one side, with the other side having three ends colored yellow, white and red.
the single end of the video cord into the back of the PS2. Plug the
other side of the cord into the corresponding colors in your video
input on your television.
the AC adapter (power cord), into the back of the PS2. The other side
of the cord should then be plugged into the wall. A red right will
appear on the front of the PS2, signaling that it is on standby mode,
and receiving the required power.
To connect to the internetfor online gaming(you cannot surf the web with a PS2) you simply needto buy a "PS2 Network Adapter". It hooks to the back of your PS2 systembehind the removable plate, and you connect either a standard phoneline, or an Ethernet cable into it. A bonus is that there are nomonthly payments like the XBOX system, so all you have to do is buy theadapter and you are set.
Justbuy that adapter and follow the instructions that come with it. I willhave to warn you though, the PS2 online community is not linked to thePS3 online community, so there may not be many players to play againstsince most of them do not use the PS2 online anymore.
