Screen not working

My hp photosmart r817 camera has been working fine for over 2 years, but now the screen has gone black and, while everything else sounds like it's working, i can't see a thing.

It could be that the connection to the screen has loosened up for some reason. If the warranty is void you can try to open it up (if you're up to it), taking the bottoms screws out, and then only the one's close to the screen side on the sides (hehe I hope you understand what I'm trying to tell you ;) )
The screen should be the first thing you see, if you loosen the 4 screws that hold that you can see the connection, just try to fasten it a little bit better, and then screw everything back to it's place.

Let me know if that didn't do the job :)

Camera self- diagnostic doesn't work

I had this exact problem when I had not used my camera for some time. For me the solution was to take out the flash card, and turn on the camera while pressing the flash button. This allowed me to run the self diagnostic test (which were ok by the way), and then after turning the camera off and on again it worked!

Not a solution, but after corresponding with HP customer service, they concluded that the problem with my M527 (see above) cannot be fixed. They offered to replace it with the same two-year old model for $99.99 which is much more than that model camera would be worth. I declined their offer.

All zoom pictures blurry

I am sure your lens is clean but from what you describing you have a definte problem with the lens assy which includes the autofocus sensors. Sometimes is can be a faulty focus motor , dirt between sensor and outer lens. Camera needs to be stripped and checked up.
