Question about Jenn-Air JMV8208AAS Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Jenn-Air JMV8000BAW My Jenn-Air JMV8000BAW above the stovetop microwave made an arcing sound and tripped the arc/ground fault breaker. My wife was boiling two items on the stovetop below it at the time. Breaker will reset and everything appears ok for now. Not sure if I should trust it? Could the problem be to much moisture in the microwave at the time or do I need to look at something? THANKS

I always recommend that folks use the vent / hood fan anytime they're cooking with the stove.

Was it on at the time?

If not, moisture can certainly get into the works and cause problems or damage. If it dries out, it's fine but if not, it could cause damage.

The magnetron is arcing, or bare metal is exposed on the inside of the microwave oven, I recommend having it checked before further use.

It's arcing due to the food being attached to the mica plate. It needs to be serviced by an authorized technician. Don't use it or you can break the microwave valve.

Emerson microwave mw8773sl has no power, no lights

Make sure that a lamp will work in the outlet powering the microwave. If ok, remove the case (with the plug pulled), and look for a tripped breaker or blown fuse. If found, check for a shorted high voltage diode in the magnetron power supply. It may also have a shorted stirrer bearing located above or beside the cavity where the microwaves come into it. The stirrer is a metal fan-like device that scatters the microwaves to get more even heating and has a plastic bearing that arcs internally causing a microwave short. Replace the stirrer unit.
If no fuse or breaker troubles, look for faulty or loose micro-switches around the door latch mechanism.
