Sony Vaio VGN-FJ370 disassembly

I need to take apart my Vaio. My kids dropped it with the power cord in and the power connection broke. It still works intermittently, but I'm want to fix the connection so it works all the time. I took off all the screws from the back, removed the battery and undid the clips behind it. I can peel back most of the keyboard/cover, but I'm stuck where the floppy drive is. The cover is still firmly attached in this location and I can't figure out how to complete the disassembly. Thanks, ****

Thanks. That wasn't the trick in this case (still looking for a solution), but I like the tip.

Hi Bobness,

It would be useful to know which model vaio you have as it would help giving you advice or links to service manuals. Alot of Vaio's have small plastic square covers on them that have screws behind them.

If he dropped it he probably broke the sound device. Reinstalling drivers will do nothing. The only solutions is using headphones but it is likely to not work.

Sony VAIO VGN-NS230E vga

Look and see if it appears as a monitor in your display settings, if it doesn't, then another good first step would be to update your video card drivers (go to this page and select "Video" then download " Intel Graphics Driver"). If none of this fixes it try the VGA cable with a different PC and see if it works.

I forgot my sony vaio bios password

Remove the battery, remove the power cord and start taking the laptop apart. You will need to remove the CMOS battery located on the motherboard and let it sit for an hour or two. Then but it all back together. The CMOS battery is a silver battery about the size of a nickel.

Sony Vaio VGN-BX540B Screen Resolution

you should be able to get a resolution of 1280x800 for a standard screen size of 15.4" The 1280x1024 will be more for a large screen high definition lcd tv when connected, which you will then find will become available to use as a screen size, although only through a dvi connection to the tv as a normal vga connector will only give a maximum screen size of 1024x768.
