My Dell E1505 won't allow me to go wireless. My friend can go wireless in my apartment, but I can't! Whenever I try to disconnect my computer from the wireless router and the cable company's router, I get knocked off the internet. What's going on? Thanks!!

Ideally, see if we can isolate the issue.

Disable the built-in antenna.

Try connecting to the wireless via a USB wireless antenna. (hopefully you can borrow one).

If you can connect, then I would say you need to replace the built-in antenna. Or you could keep using the USB antenna.

Good luck

I replaced the hardrive on my dell inspiron e1505 when the original died but now it does not indicate a wireless connection area-do i need to replace a wireless card?

No. You need to install the driver for the wireless adapter. Go to the Dell website under support, enter your service tag number, go to driver downloads, download the driver for the adapter, and install in your computer.

Hi,
You need to check for the wireless switch located on your laptop. Once the wireless switch is on, you'll be able to see networks in range and you will be able to connect to your network wireless.

Button to turn wireless on

A friend of mine said it's one of the function keys, but he can't remember which one. Consult your manual for the information, or go to Dell Service Center online and tell them your problem. Here's the Dell site:

Good luck, hope this helps.

check on wifi if it is lit up, if not try press and hold Fn and F2. verify if the wireless card is detected in devicemanager - it is under network connection - make sure there is no red x or any exclamation mark on it
