Sound but no image on JVC AV-48WP74

Can anyone give me a hand, I picked this TV up for next to nothing, knowing that it would need a repair of some kind. Has anyone experienced this before? Can someone advise what component could be involved here, or what a possible fix would be. I've plugged and unplugged several times to no avail. I hear everything clear but get black screen no light.

My AV-48WP74 JVC TV is making a pulsating sound and then shuts off. There is no picture or sound. How can I fix this problem and get my TV back working again?!

i'm having the same problem. I looked at the power board where the power directly comes in and there was nothing wrong with the power coming off it going to the main power board that goes to everything else on the tv. At first I thought it was a cap. but I'm not so sure it isn't something with the bulbs for the lenses.

While it is true JVC tubes rarely fail, they can give trouble.

JVC MODEL # AV-48WP74 48 IN. BIGSCREEN TV.

I had a problem with my TV colors not lining up. One day I turned it on and the green was out of wack. I checked this message board and replaced the STK chips, bad soldering and all led to me just giving up on that and buying a whole new Convergence Board ($185). I just plugged this in and though now my Green lines up okay, my red is out of whack. Is there something I am doing wrong? Can anyone help me? Did i miss a step? Frustrated......Bruce
