Question about Canon PowerShot A540 Digital Camera

1 Answer

No picture My camera turns on, and various icons are visible on the screen, but no picture(ie no picture of what I am trying to take). In view mode, I can see the picture that I have just taken as well as my older pix. I'm sure there is some setting that has been messed with. Please let me know how to change this, Thank you!! Yes I have the same problem. So, what do I do? I hit the DISP button again and nothing happened? What do I need to do next?

Yes, Seemingly my camera has the same problem.
Now the thing does not even shoot through the viewfinder.
Any inputs? (I have checked the Display buttons and LCD's)....

LCD Screen won't turn on. I can take pictures just fine but the screen just won't turn on. Hasn't been dropped or exposed to water at all. Canon EOS Rebel T3i

There are a few thing you may want to look at. In your menu settings (the second little wrench icon) you will find the LCD on/off options: Shutter Btn, Shutter/Disp, and Remain on, select your desired setting (page 179 in the T3i manual) Check to see that the display is activated by the "DISP." button located just in front of the Mode Dial. For the display to remain on during shooting you must me in "live view" which is avctivated by the icon button located to the immediate right of the eye cup. Unless this "live View" option is selected the LCD will remain off to save power. Also, if the menu is not visible try activating the quick menu "Q" button located just below the apature "AV" button. The LCD should work in the play/review mode at all times, if that is not the case then maybe repairs are necessary.

Try hitting the display button(the small TV resembling icon in the bottom right of the camera). You may have accidentally pressed it while using your camera and caused it to turn off your display.

Ah yes! you have pressed the display button. Turn the camera on and you see the icons in the display, look for the Disp button and press it, the display will cycle through its modes icons, black, image and icons.

Cannon A530 View screen has gone blank

Usually this is beacause you press the button "visible", all camera have this button to choose the visible model of the LED, you can turn off it to save power to take more photos by view sight from the small sight window above the screen.

Viewing is fine, taking pictures is not

This sounds like what started happening with my camera a few weeks ago. I found that turning the LCD screen off during picture-taking allows me to take pictures. I then have to go into review mode to look at the pictures I took using the LCD screen. Definitely not a great fix. I'm trying to locate a firmware upgrade that may solve it.
