Re: Nothing works on it.
I have a couple questions/comments:
You said the unit was "unresponsive" so I am assuming that none of the control buttons work in addition to the display showing faulty data.
If the buttons worked, meaning you could change radio stations but the display was not working, then this would tell me that your display had failed.
However, if the buttons do not work, then this tells me that the microprocessor has failed because its not accepting any commands from the buttons. The microprocessor also sends information to the display. So, that fact that you are having two problems; buttons won't work & bad data on tha display indicate a microprocessor problem.
There is a possibilty that the problem could be cause by a problem in the power supply section. Perhaps one of the voltages is missing. I always start at the power supply and if ok, go from there.
The question you need to consider is if its worth having it repaired rather than going out and purchasing a new unit.
Yes, it can be repaired but you will need to take it to a service center and you will need to consider the expense in having it fixed.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Look at the display. Look for a number 1 or a number 2 to determine which alarm is on. If you see a number 1, push the 1 button on the top right side of the alarm clock until the number light goes off (1 or 2 times, depending on whether it is set to beep or radio alarm). When the number is not lit up, the alarm is off.
There's a line fuse for these sets inside the radio on a printed circuit
board. NOTE: for your safety, disconnect the radio from its power
source before you open the case and poke around inside. The best way
to check the fuse is with an ohm meter, but you can probably check it
visually using a strong flashlight. There should be a wire filament
running the length of the fuse. If it's intact, so is the fuse. If
it's broken or not visible at all, the fuse is "blown" and needs to be
replaced. If the fuse checks out ok, the power transformer is likely
bad -- a problem that these sets are notorious for. Bose will charge
you $100 for the transformer repair (unless the set is still under
warranty), and having it done is strictly a matter of personal choice.
My choice would be to sell the Bose on eBay as a "tech special" and
pick up one of the newer HD radios. They offer much better sound at a
much lower price.

To fix the projection display that is stuck with four 8's, hold down the hour and miute button at the same time. Keep the buttons pressed down while unplugging the power source then pluging it back it. I did this and the screen works like it did when I first got it.
