Cant read any blank discs

The problem likely is not with your hardware--it may not even be detected unless you have a buring program (non-microsoft) installed. check to be sure that you have no yellow checks in your device manager, and and check for any yellow checks for your CD/DVD ROM drives,your sound, video and game controllers. If there are none, your system is go. Your burning software may be corrupted. I recommend a great free program, Belarc Adviser, which will tell you all programs and hardware in your computer, find the CD burning software, like Nero (not backup software) or Roxio, and go to their web sidtes to download pgrades or just redownload them if they aren't working on your computer.
