Hi,
I suggest you to contact the Logitech support for a replacement this is an hardware failure and it's covered by warranty terms.
If you are not under warranty you still can contact them as I know for instance in Europe they can offer you some good deal on nowadays products for out of warranty people.

This is know to happen with this model Notebook. If its still in warranty contact your vendor. You can always tap the touchpad as a left click or use a mouse instead if it stops working.
go to following link from HP
and recheck things again..
if things still dont work then contact HP to get the mouse replaced..
http://tinyurl.com/y8ek43e let me know if this resolved ur issue.. regards, guru
Have you pressed the re establish contact buttons on the underneath of the mouse and the receiver unit .
They sometimes just dont boot properly and forget who they should be talking to .. repressing these buttons usually re establishes conntact and they work again , another cause may be dust on laser reciever on mouse clean with a small paint brush (dry ) and this also sometimes cures problem especially with erratic movement ....... regards Vortash
Is it still under warranty? It should be. If not then HP will help either way. This is a new development for HP to start with. Go to HP/support.com there are questions there to match up with the problem you are having if not then you can send them you actual problem you are having. They will most likely either pick up your PC at no cost or do a remote access to resolve your issue. Have any problem in doing this let me know and I will help you.
