Question about Toshiba Satellite M45-S265 Notebook
I have a Satellite M45. I have the unit plugged into the power supply and the battery lite shows it is charged. However, when I try to turn the unit on, all it does is the power button turns blue for about 5 seconds and the cd/dvd drive starts to spin and then it shuts down.
If its unplugged and its doing this with a charged battery, then the battery may be bad and its max charge is so small that it wont start but says its full.
Try removing the battery and plugging it in and starting it, if it works, Bad Battery.
Itry removing the CD drive, some older Dells would do the same thing when the drive or bagttery would go bad. If so, then Bad Drive or battery.
Try taking out the Hard drive and then starting it with no Hard drive and see if you get a bios screen, if so, go into the bios and reset everything to defaults and try starting it again with the HDD put back in.
If its really old, past 3 years, the bios battery may have god out and needs to be replaced, some laptops have a watch battery soldered in or a rechargabl battery that connectd to the board, if so, its up to your ingenuity to replace it with a new one however you can. although i would try this if your not mechanically inclined, taking apart, most laptops is difficult unless its your job and you know your stuff.
Hope this helps a little.
