Get any and all updates pertaining to the mother board. some generic USB devices wont pick up because they are bassically made without proper firmware built in so your PC cant recognize what type of device it is. I would go with Lexar, ther like $20 for a gig at wallmart

How do I download all my stuff from my current computer to a new computer?

You can easily and safely use a USB pen drive with a large capacity to transfer all the files one by one , folder by folder with special markings to note the copy into the respective drives. You can also segregate the new drives to your need with personal files, general files and public files. Also picture and video downloads also can be listed and saved.Connect the USB to the old PC and transfer by copy or cut , then connect the usb after safe removal to the new PC and pasting to the new location.

I want to make my pendrive bootable to install window xp on my computer

download this file unetbootin-windows-471.exe, then you must have an ISO file of your windows xp, you can install ultraiso or any iso maker available on the web, insert your xp cd then make an iso image out of your xp cd... after having iso file for win xp, insert your pen drive (at least you have 1gig free space on your pen drive) then open unetbootin-windows-471.exe, under the disk image, locate your win xp iso file using the select disk image file button,. then just chose Usb Drive , and also on the drive chose the drive of the usb (check it on my computer and check the drive letter of your pen drive) then click ok... once successful transfer of image to the pen drive, restart pc then make your pen drive to be the 1st boot device

I have 2gb usb pen drive that when inserted to pc is not recognized! the little green led is present but drive is not working

If your pen drive works on another computer I suspect the USB port is not working or there are no drivers loaded for the USB pen.
Check for drivers and if there is an error, remove the old driver. On re boot the OS will replace the driver that is now missing automatically.
Hope this helps.

try your bios settings and find your usb setting and enable it so it allows more than one usb. it probably not compatible with your motherboard..

WHAT COMPUTER PART CAN I USE IN MY NEW COMPUTER?

If you are talking about a desktop, you may be able to add a USB card to it, which will give you USB functionality. But, if your computer is *this* old, you might be better off getting a new one anyways just for the huge performance increase. You are always able to add more RAM to it, upgrade hard drive, etc. Adding memory is the single most upgrade that helps a computer be faster.

Considering that your old computer doesn't have USB ports, there likely is very little that you will be able to use on the new one. Several leaps in technology have occured.

But, to answer your question, you can likely move the hard drive from old computer, as well as the optical drives (CD/DVD). If your graphics card is not part of the motherboard, that can be brought over as well. Add the keyboard and mouse, and that will be about it.

System hang when i insert pen drive

solution..
1) Check The USB Port for Damaged, Bend Or Broken Pins.
2) Check The Pen Drive For Physical Damage.
3) Try The Pen Drive In another USB Port. (i.e. if u r using the pen drive in the FRONT PANEL USB PORT than try it in BACK PANEL USB PORT)
4) Try The Pen Drive In Another System.
5) Tye Another Pen Drive.
6) If All Above Is Fine Then Format The PEN DRIVE.
7) Try The PEN DRIVE now.
8) Is Issue Still Persists Then..
9) Uninstall the CHIPSET/MOTHERBOARD DRIVER COMPLETELY and then clear %temp% & prefetch files and Restart Your System.
10) Install The Latest CHIPSET/MOTHERBOARD DRIVER and ANY AVAILABLE FIRMWARE for the motherboard..

If you have a USB port on the back of computer plug it in there. Or use USB extension if it is uneasy for you to plug your pen drive from time to time. From there you can hook up your pen drive much easy.
