PSP Connection Problems

When I connect my psp to my PC, I get the message "USB Device Not Recognized", I have also tried troubleshooting the problem on my PC and it will not find and drivers to install onto it, I'm running out of ideas and no one seems to have the same problem. (Yes I did go to USB Connect under the PSP settings)

ya i hav the same problem

  • rsiguien Sep 12, 2008

I have the same problem too. I tried updating the driver for unknown device using "automatically search for driver from my pc and and from the internet" but it did not find the driver. In fact, I got the "no updates required for your device, latest drivers has been installed" kind of message. My psp usb connection works fine when connected to a different computer. Only with my Vista laptop I'm experiencing this problem. I tried using PCpitstop driver alert program but it did not find the problem. It suppose to scan the lacking driver for my usb. Can anyone help? Please? Thank you.

Laptop will not recognize psp

Hi lawolf77,

If your laptop wont recognize your PSP there might be a connection problem between the two. So you need to check what's causing the problem. There are several ways to check if PSP and your computer are properly connected, one good example is by checking the connectors and the device setting.

If you want to check some configuration on how to connect your PSP to your PC please try to follow these steps:

1. First, connect your PSP to your PC using a usb cable.
- please make sure both ends are properly intact.

2. Using the left and right directional button find "Setting", then scroll down or up to find the "USB CONNECTION".

3. USB CONNECTION will display after you pressed the x button.

4. Please wait until computer detects the USB connection. After that it will show the drive for your PSP. usually F: or G:

5. Click on your PSP drive letter.

6. Now you can determine if your PC recognizes the PSP, just access the root folder and try to put some files on it.

Hope it helps.

My PC cant find my PSP even im connecting with a usb device....

Hi,

Sorry about this, your usb port on your psp could be possibly damaged. So you can use a memory stick on your memory card reader to do your data transfer. If you insist on using the usb connection then try seeing a sony repair personnel for this.

  1. Connect the PSP to your PC with a USB cable. (about $10: buy a USB cable for your PSP)
  2. Press the "home" button on the PSP (it's a tiny button to the lower left of the screen) then use the left-right directional buttons to find "Settings", then the up-down buttons to find "USB Connection" on the PSP.
  3. Press the "X" button (you got it, the round button with the "X" on it) and your PSP should display "USB Connection".
  4. In a moment or two your computer should tell you that a new USB device has been connected, then show you a new generic hard drive, usually E: or F:
  5. Click on the drive letter that corresponds to the PSP unit.
  6. Now create a new folder on that drive and name it "psp".
