Took the bottom cover off and can see soot an char on a couple of the black parts that are mounted down the side of the heatsink. there is about six on each side of the amplifier
my problem is that the amp comes on and then cuts off like in 2sec when i tested the transistors the tested good someone told me the board has a power on board is this true and if so where do i get the parts
It sounds like the power supply transistors have failed. You'll need to pull the clamps and get the numbers off of the transistors. It's also possible that the 47 ohm gate resistors have failed. After removing the old transistors, you need to check the resistors individually.
Since you're new to repair work, read the following page.
Basic Repair Introduction
Post the part numbers if they are incomplete and you can't find the correct replacements. mouser.com is probably the best place to buy small quantities if you're in the US.
You also need to check the output transistors to see if any are shorted. If they are, the repair will be more difficult (especially if there is damage to the driver board).
