Do you see it in device manager? If you do, that means that the driver for it has been installed successfully, but now you need a software to run it. I can recommend YAWCAM, it is a freeware software, and works just fine with a lot of cameras
You've been spam by such spyware on your system, like worms, trojan or virus. Last night I fix like what problem you have, even I reinstall the Acer Orbicam and nothing all in connected and still use by another application. This trouble is in order to remove such malicious script or viruses. Use Spyware Doctor to remove on it. Good luck!
check your lap top keyboard you'll see a key on whichhas been written "fn" and also an other key on which o can see the image of a web cam on it. Press both keys at the same time to activate the web cam. rate me if u use this solution

best regards mike
Checked if your orbicam is in device manager (under imaging device),
if it still there, you might have wrong orbicam application installed. try to download the orbicam application, there are 3 type of orbicam for Aspire 5050 (suyin, bison and logitech). try to installed one by one.
or if you can try to reload the whole windows, using alt+f10 during boot.
assuming that the mic itself isnt faulty, go to the right side of your taskbar and right click on the grey spekaer, not the red one and click on recording devices.
When the window pops up make sure the mic realtek HD audio has a green tick and not the line in icon, next click properties and check the settings, you can also configure the mic from this window.
