Question about Hunter 33201 Humidifier

1 Answer

Hunter humidifer model 33201 The humidifer spits water out of the base on medium or high. It also does not seem to be using the same amount of water it use to use. I would fill it up daily and noe it maybe 2 days or so. It also does not feel like there is any humidity blowing out the top!

We have had this same problem! And, we have two!! I can't figure out if the water is "spilling out" the venting because the permanent filter has to be placed one direction (which no indicator mark is present) so the water flows through and not over? But, I do know that finding puddles of water in our carpet from overnight use is enough to make them go out to trash! Any solutions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I dont know why your humidifier is spitting water out.

But it sounds like you need to clean the unit and install a new filter. Once the filter becomes used, the humidifier won't work as well. Less water will be used because the clogged filter can't hold as much. Once you replace the filter, your water consumption should go back up and you should feel a difference in your home again.

Good Luck.

Hello! I have a 33201 Hunter Humidifier and for some reason does not run. It turns on (light comes on) and I can hear a faint hum if I put my ear to the unit... but again it does not come on. It does...

Hi, Mark! It may be clogged with a calcium scale build up from the tap water you use. Unplug the unit and empty any water that is the tank.Mix a 50/50 solution of White Distilled Vinegar and Bottled Distilled Water. Mix enough to fill the tank. Let it soak for 2 to 3 hours and turn the unit ON. If it starts functioning as it should, allow it to run until the tank is 3/4's empty. If it doesn't operate as it should, allow it to soak overnight. And try again, following the procedure above. After it has run to the 3/4 empty point, turn the unit OFF. unplug it and dump the remaining solution. Refill the tank with Bottled Distilled Water and run again, for at least 2 hours. This with flush the system of the vinegar and water solution.

To avoid having this problem again, always use Bottled Distilled Water, rather than tap water.

Hope this helps to solve the problem. Have a Happy Easter!

Everything powers up, but no output

If you had been using it up until now and you have hard water, the unit may be clogged. If this is the case, a 50.50 solution of White Vinegar and Water should clean the scale out. Just porr the solution in the tank and let it soak for a while. Turn the unit on and let the solution run thru the system. After it has almost emptied the tank, turn it off and empty the remainder of the solution and flush the system with clear water. In the future use bottled Distilled Water to avoid this problem.

The humidifier is only a month old, but it is making a loud rattling noise

take the tank off and the fan unit housing. inside you'll see a circular filter that goes into the water sump. make sure it isn't falling apart and hitting the fan blades.

How do I clean my hunter humidifier 33201? the filter blocks have white calcium? built up. I have sick kids and want it to be clean and running properly.

Soak the filters in a solution of 8 oz of white vinegar per gallon of water for about 20 minutes once per week and rinse well.

Better yet, do this once every 2 weeks, and on the off weeks soak the filters in a beach and water solution (rinse well) to keep the mold and bacteria growth from becoming a problem. I also add about a teaspoon of vinegar or a teaspoon of bleach (one or the other, not both at the same time) to the water when I fill the tank.

That helps keep the calcium scale from forming and it keeps the unit itself MUCH cleaner.

Are there products made to keep residue from building up on the metal filter. Holmes Humidifiers have liquid solutions to desolve of prevent bulid up. Hard water residue.

there are products out there that can help with hard water risdue on your unit. usually local hardware stores have them in stock. but if youdo have the hard water the unit will need to be cleaned at least once a week.

Hunter model 33201 stinks due to mineral build up, but I can't get the fan part disassembled to clean it. There are no more screws to take out, and I don't want to break it... help

Soak what you can in white vinegar. For the rest put some of the vinegar in a spray bottle and carefuly spray and use an old toothbrush.
Good luck
