I lost control of my camera d40x

Ok i wanted to go to bulb mode but my camera was only going to 30'' and no more after that! i was in M mode, i reset the settings and even hard reset it using the button under the usb connection! I went in my menu setup and some options say "This option is not available with current settings" like the mirror lock up or the iso auto . Also my aperture is LOCK, i cant control it, i press the button and turn the dial wheel its changing bt when i let go it goes back to "Lo" and i keep getting the warning Your subject is too dark... what can i do to restore it to factory settings or something! I tried the reset with the green buttons and the other method aswell...

Nikon D40x has suddenly stopped working in Bulb-mode.

Did you accedentely rotate the mode dail? because as soon as your not in one of the manual modes, you are not able to decide what goes on. In auto (green camera logo) the camera does his own way.

When I shoot in arperture priority my photos come out blue. All ok in auto come. Canon d40x

The priority modes often give you more control over more features than auto mode does. In auto mode, the camera is deciding your white-balance, and may not let you select a white balance setting even if you wanted to. In aperture priority, your camera will give you control over white balance. Switch to aperture priority, then check your white-balance (wb) mode. You should still be able to select "auto" within these settings if you'd like, but feel free to play with the various settings to get your ideal photo. Good luck!

How do I use the ML-L3 remote with a Nikon d40x?

Set the shooting mode to one of the two remote modes. The quick-response remote mode fires the shutter when you press the button on the remote. The delayed remote mode gives you two seconds to hide the remote behind your back before firing the shutter.

Press the Info button. Use the direction keys to the shooting mode (along the right side, fifth from the top). Press OK. Use up/down to select the remote modes (the two at the bottom).

For full details, refer to the "Shooting Mode" section in the D40x manual.

I have the same issue with my d40x. i have tried all the tips on here with no resolution to my prob. one thing i have noticed when i have navigated around the menu is that focus mode is set to AF-A. AF-S...

You're in one of the point&shoot modes. In these modes the camera takes almost complete control of itself and leaves you with very few options. If you want more control over the camera, switch to one of the PSAM modes. The P mode works almost exactly like the green Auto mode, except that you can override any and every setting.

HI,I hav a Nikon D40x camera. When I use the remote control to take pivtures it only stays in that mode for about 10 seconds before ending. How can I alter this to keep it on that setting for longer?

You are being timed out as the default setting is 10 seconds.

Enter your setup menu (looks like a pencil) and scroll through to " Remote On Duration ".... now change this to 15 minutes and ok.Job done.
Remember to reset the menu once finished.

Hope this helps,if i helped you please vote.

D40X - Remote mode for longer than 15 minutes?

Why not invest in Nikon's Camera Control software.  When the camera is attached to a laptop, you have complete control of the camera from the computer, and it will do time-lapse shots at any interval you choose.

Nikon D40X inbuilt flash

If it's withing 30 days, get it exchanged. I have a D70s and it's been working fine for me, maybe something with the D40x with other customers? Take it back to the store and let an "instructor" try it out to make sure it's not a setting.

It's great for the manufacturer to know about any problems so they can get a good sample of problems to help many people. Good luck.
