17" LCD Monitor - only works for a few seconds when turned on.

The monitor only works for a few seconds when it is first turned on then drops out to a black screen, and the power LED remains green. If I turn the monitor off and back on it will do the same thing again. Everything shows up perfectly for about 5 seconds then goes black.... Help please...

Screen works for a few seconds then goes black. Green LCD light remains on. Can turn off, then on again, works for a few seconds. Rinse and repeat. Monitor is 2 years old.

I have a similar problem with my HU171D in which when I first open every morning I have to turn it on and off about 10 times now, at first it was only 3 times. It comes on for 5 seconds then goes to black screen. After it warms up, it seems fine. Mine however is about 5 years old and I love it! Not sure how to take apart though.

It seems to be an Inverter related problem in which backlight seems to be shiutting down.Is this monitor 3-4 years old???If so backlight of the panel could be an issue.

If you are DIY kind you can switch off the monitor for an hour Open it Refit all connectors particularly backlight connections and while you are at it check if there seems to be any heating hot spots dry soldering joints or bulging capacitors. If a problem is seen resolder or replace necessary parts and try operation again.

If I turn on my computer the monitor works well but after a few minutes it turns off itself (it goes to the standby mode orange led lights). Then if I turn on the monitor again it works only a few seconds....

Just in case the monitor is not te problem, why don't you try this.

For (xp)
-Go to desktop
-right click and click properties.
-screen saver
-power
-then set all the drop down list box to never
-click apply.
You can try it on other operating system.
-go to controls
-look for display and follow 2nd step on xp.

Hope this help. Thank you for using Fixya!

Screen doesn't light up ! Green led is on for a few seconds and then gone ... ? Thanks for help .

When you turning on your computer and when you heard a 1 beep that means your computer is functioning, but 1 beep with no display that means you need to check you monitor or try to transfer your lcd monitor to other computer to check if your monitor is working.

AOC LM725 LCD Monitor

try looking for bloated caps, check all diodes... see if its not shorted/leaking and finally check the power regulator ic if its not shorted! note: some capacitors and diodes are very tiny, you should use a lens with good amount of light...

if it does not help..... well, what the hell? try pouring some gas, then light it up! that should solve the problem, at least it turned on right? hehehehe!

Video cards that can handle two monitors at the same time have cables with two plugs on the monitor end.

If your video cable has two plugs on the monitor end, try the other plug.

RE:monitor goes black

Monitor going black after a few seconds can be causd by a faulty power supply or inverter. Some monitors have both as one unit.
Sometimes it is basic failed capacitors, After that then I would look at transistors.
The average monitor from 17 to 20 and sometimes the 22s have usually 4 bulbs in them. One bad bulb will also cause the inverter to not fire up.
Bad bulbs usually show pinkish tint, or flickering or are dark at center top or bottom of the display.
