Od code is supposed to mean that lid has not been opened for the last 3 completed cycles. Also, apparently you tried the service mode and found the door lock to be working. So, unless the problem is with the electronic board itself the only other thing that could be happening is a faulty sensing switch at the door lid or a bad connection to it. I would try shorting the leads from the switch and see if the problem goes away. Then you might just need a new switch.

Od signal on maytag neptune tl washer

Error "od" means that your washer thinks the door is open. If the door isn't really open then you'll need to replace your door latch assembly to fix the issue because it has failed. Try to unplug the washer for 60 seconds to see if the electronics will reset. If that doesn't work, then call the repairman back because you have an issue with your door latch assembly.

Maytage Neptune TL gives od error code. Tried unplugging the machine. Tried many things, but nothing is working.

Could be loss of signaling thru the left hand Lid lock;

Google "Sticky Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW" for the Service Manual and support for troubleshooting the OD error code.

Lr code went into service mode but wont respond to commands model #fav6800aww

Tom,

The LR error code can be a tough one to troubleshoot but I'll see what if any help I can be.

The LR code stands for Locked Rotor.
If you Power Cycle the 120VAC to the machine will the error code clear?
What cycle was the machine in when you took the error code wash, spin?
If you remove the front panel and with the 120VAC power cord removed from the service outlet can you rotate the Clutch Pulley CCW (Spin direction) or CW (wash/agitate) direction.
Sounds like you have the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual.
Let’s see if the drive system is free and not locked up…………Rich

This washer definitely does what it wants to - od will appear when I try to start it - all I get is a loud beep and the washer will not start - but sometimes when I try to start it, the washer begins as it...

Hello inezfragala,

If you are only throwing the OD error code to the Console and you can’t clear it I feel you have a broken lead on the magnetic reed relay switch or severe pin/plug corrosion in the left hand lid lock. See the pic’s be low. Next Question do you want to DIY or call in a service repair company.

The FAV6800AW/FAV9800AW Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

If you want to DIY the fix I would start by removing the Left Hand Lid Lock. Follow the Service Manual page 34 Lid Lock/Reed Switch Removal.

The technicians thumb is on the Left Hand Lid Lock assembly. The Left Hand Lid Lock assembly is not a sealed very well and is subject to corrosion issues with its location near the bleach dispenser. If you are a DIY’er you won’t have any problem getting to the Left Hand Lid Lock assembly.

Unplug the 120VAC to your machine and follow the manual to raise the washer top from the base. The mating plug can be very difficult to remove from the assembly. Remove the 5/16 sheet metal screw holding the lid lock to the washer top. Once loose you can press the tabs and pull the mating plug from the socket pins in the Lid Lock. Be careful when you open the case halves of the Left Hand Lid lock assembly it’s very easy to damage those retaining tabs. Work very slowly with a small flat blade jewelers screwdriver or similar. If you have heavy corrosion issues you can clean up with WD-40 and some finger nail emery file board on the pins in the Left Hand Lid Lock.

If you need to replace the left lid lock here is the part number 25001048 or here another link.

Check to see if the Black and Red wires are on the magnetic reed relay switch solder connections have not broken loose from corrosion. They can be re-soldered back on if they have broken loose. If you have heavy corrosion in the Left Hand Lid Lock assembly and can’t clean up to clear the error code I would replace the Left Lid Lock. There is a possibility that the signaling is lost from the Left lid Lock plug back threw the machines wiring harness. This would require advanced troubleshooting using a DVM to trace +12VDC from the Control Board Back to the Control Board thru the L.H. Lid Lock. Don’t go near the Control Board with a DVM set to measure resistance/continuity you could destroy your Control Board.

Big time corrision issues with L.H. Lid Lock.

Broken wire on magnetic reed relay will cause OD alarm and you won't be able to clear.

This how the L.H. Lid Lock should look.

I have a maytag neptune tl that comes up with an error code "od" Has anyone any idea what this is and how to fix it? Thanx Bruce

Open Door Error. - Problem with the door latch mechanism or sensor. For the od error, open the door and jiggle the locks.
It's possible that soap has gotten there and is making them not knock whatever it is they need to knock to register that the door has opened.
You might need something fairly long and thin such as jeweler's screw drivers
OD :The door has not been opened after two complete wash cycles. Door switch was not seen open since the last two final spins.

Here is a shop manual for your model.

Try to run the diagnostic mode, see manual. Or unplug for 5 minutes. Remember if this code reappears you may have a stuck or bad door latch.

if after running a diagnostic, and th latch is still reporting an error - it will need to be replaced.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

Od error code

Maytag's service center emailed me back saying that I needed to purchase a magnet for the right side of the lid, even after I sent them photos of the lid. There is no magnet on the right side, so don't be fooled! The lid comes apart fairly easily. First, with a screwdriver, apply a little downward pressure and pry out the center liquid/powder holder. It is hinged on the bottom and will come right out. Next, pull out on the bottom corners and the lid liner will come straight down. Now you can verify that the magnet (on the left side!) is there and seated correctly. If that is the case, go ahead and reassemble. Unplug the washer. Lift up the top portion of the washer (at the crease). You may need a screwdriver to pry up on it. I didn't. I just pulled up on it. It comes up fairly easily. Now you can see the locks, mounted with one bolt on either side. Inspect the wiring for any wear or damage. Next, remove the locks one at a time, unhook the wire connector and plug them back in. Reassemble. Leave the lid up (not sure if it matters, but I did) and plug the washer back in. That's all I did and it worked! The "od" alarm didn't come back.
