First thing to do is check your Modem from your Internet Provider, without using your router, to know if you have a fair connection. Connect your computer directly to your modem. If your internet is okay

Second, connect your computer to your D-Link router using a Lan cable wire (utp cable), (don't connect your router to your modem ) then check your computer if it has an ip address from your router. If it has an ip address that means the wireless function of your router is not working.

Note:
( During this steps always obtain the ip address of your computer automatically, because your router will provide the ip address in your computer )

Make sure that your router is acting like a DHCP server.
also make sure that your pc's ip is set to "obtain automatically" under local area connection->properties->internet protocol->properties

I have lost my wep key

Hi. I would suggest resetting the router to factory settings and setting up your wireless network again. There is usually a reset button on the back. Once the remote is reset, run "ipconfig" in the command prompt of your computer to find out the router's IP address. It's usually 192.168.0.1. Type the IP address into the address bar of your web browser to access the router's network setup wizard.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I am having D-link DSL 1504G LAN extender, it is use for so many days. Recently i tried to reset it's not happening and its old setted IP is also not working. The default IP is 192.168.0/1.1.. IN LED...

The reset provided on LAN extender is for reboot & not the the hardware reset for LAN Extender. Use console cable. Go to hyper terminal mode & you will be able to access LAN Extender irrespective of whatever IP settings are. Then in Menu under software Maintainance you will find Factory reset. Use that option & it will come back to original 192.168.0.1 address. Then you can use it again normally. You still find problems mail me at following address.

I can't reset a 169 series IP address on my 4600C in order to direct connect to a cable modem (and internet).

Provided there is no hardware problems, this issue is fairly easy to resolve.
  1. Completely shutdown the system
  2. Unplug power to the cable modem.
  3. Wait 3 minutes (This allows the temp memory of the cable modem to scrub)
  4. power on the cable modem, let it reset (Takes about a minute)
  5. boot the system.
Normally this will force the cable modem to renew the MAC address of the device connected and give you a valid IP address.
If you still have an APIPA address, try right clicking the local area connection ICON and click REPAIR
If still no connection, reboot computer in safe mode w/networking and try again. If you get a connection then the issue is software (Firewall, Virus, Malware)
If you still are not getting a valid IP address, check your cabling and connection (Replace cable with a known good one if available) or try a different network card.

Dell optiplex does not output to router. How do I find problem?

Start, run, CMD enter
IPCONFIG enter
see if you have a valid IP address (192.169.x.x) if you do then it is a software setting, if not IP address or an apipa address (169.254.x.x) then you don't have wired connectivity with the router.
Valid IP address: Right click network icon in systray and click REPAIR (Diagnose and Repair in Vista, Troubleshoot problems in Windows 7) see if you can connect afterward. If still no go, power off system, router and Cable/DSL modem, wait three minutes, power on Modem, let it reset, power on router, let it reset, power on system.
No Valid IP address, try a known good cable, and ensure the NIC is enabled in system bios. If still no go, try a different port in router and reset router, still no go, try another system on that cable. If another system (or another network card) connects, then the NIC is bad

hi there ...

your isp is at&t? please verify the ip address straight to the modem if its is 192.168.1.1 and if your modem from your isp is set to DHCP or BRIDGE mode.

IF IP address is 192.168.1.1 (DHCP)
... change the LAN IP address of the router to 192.168.2.1 or 5.1 to prevent any IP conflict
by doing this :

1. access setup page of router usually 192.168.1.1
2. under setup tab look for the ip address, change it, then save
3. click on the status tab , and look for a VALID ip address

IF MODEM is set to BRIDGE mode
.... please ask username and password from your ISP coz we would need to set your router to PPOE...
1. access setup page
2. under setup tab look for INTERNET CONNECTION TYPE
3. select PPPoE
fill in username and password
select "keep"alive
save
4. click on status tab
look for LOG in TYPe ===> click CONNECT
if connected : check a valid IP address
if authentication failed verify again your username and password from your ISP

Goodluck!

Router seems to drop connection frequently

What a static ip is, is the ip address that the router automatically assigns to other equipment. (computers, xbox, ect.) Find D-links customer support line for help.

Cannot connect with ATT modem

Connect your pc to the ATT box. If online, check the ip address of the computer. If the ip address is 192.168.1.x, then you just have to change the router ip address. The wrt54g ip is 192.168.1.1, it may be having conflict with the ATT modem. Change the wrt54g ip to 192.168.2.1

Good Luck

Problem connecting to the net

You router may be set to be DHCP enabled so that it allocates the ip addresses automatically to each pc, so check that the pc's network card with connection problems is set in the properties on the TCP/IP line is set to obtain an ip address automatically. You can also try, Start>run then type ipconfig /flushdns to clear the pc ip address and dns. and restart pc. Lastly if you pc is both network cabled and wireless, ensure one or the other is dissabled as this can confuse the ip adress alocation.
