Re: Memory up grade and hard disk
Yes,you are are quite right in upgrading your memory or RAM from 512 to 1gb.As the applications nowadays are getting more and resource hungry.
For this you will have to have a expandable slot on your motherboard which most probably you possess.
And about doing it urself you should ask yourself .
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

in laptop the only best way to upgrade is only the RAM/memory and hard drive/hard disk....because if you want to upgrade the cpu it self is not possible for the old laptop because of the new pin slot that is available in the market....and only the expert/certified technician can do this...
Hi, its just easy, just go to a service center and have your memory upgrade to increase speed and loading of application, for your hard drive to be upgraded and want to retain the same data and application have it clone or image so that you can still have the same programs as before but with higher space with new hard disk.
YOU NEED TO UPGRADE YOUR MEMORY STICK OR BETTER STILL IF YOUR HARD DISK SPACE IS VERY LOW TRY AND UPGRADE ALL MEMORY BOTH YOUR HARD DISK SPACE AND MEMORY CARD ON YOUR SYSTEM IF ALL THIS DIDN'T WORK THEN THERE IS TOO MUCH OF VIRUS ON IT WHICH WILL CALL FOR RELOADING THE SYSTEM AS IN FORMATTING THE SYSTEM WITH A BOOTABLE DISK XP FOR RELOADING THE OPERATING SYSTEM.
Yes it is possible to upgrade the ram and the harddrive, there will be little blanking plates on the back of the laptop, they are held in by small screws, undo the screws and you will have access to the memory and the harddrive. If you are unsure take it to a pc store and ask if they could find out what type of memory and harddrive is needed to upgrade. hope this helps.
Price actually depends on where you make your purchases, do some research to locate the best price and yes you can upgrade your hard drive and memory, I am unsure of the type of memory your laptop needs however the hard drive you need is a 2.5 inch sata drive
Ok, so you just got more Hard disk space, or a new bigger Hard disk. Of course you need t upgrade the Ram memory. This computer supports Ram memory up to 1 Gb with a max frequency of 266Mhz. You probably have 256Mb or 512Mb of Ram Memory. You can go to any computer store and get it upgraded. It shouldn't be expensive. But don't forget :
Use this tyoe of RAM: DDR SDRAM (266 MHz), Upgradeable to 1GB
By the way, even after the upgrade, I advise you to run a Defrag of your Hard Disk and clean all your temp files.
There is a free and easy software to clean all temp and internet temp files: Ccleaner.
You can up grade from 98 to xp. As far as more speed & memory that comes from a few more components than just upgrading memory. It matters on the limits of what you already have. A larger hard drive & more memory definitly boost things up but your cpu's limits will determine the actual hardware/software upgrades your system can benifit from. You'll have to get the specs on maximums for your model. If you can tell us what you have now it would help to determine a better answer than guessing.
yes of course it will handle a 40gb hard drive..your P3 will handle a hard disk up to 60gb...coz i have a friend, his using a P3-700MHz,512mb, 64mb video card and barracuda 80gb hard disk=.)..to make it sure..bring your P3 to the computer shop so you can also know if your P3 is handle a 40-60gb hard drive..thanks..
